Back on topic ... I don't speak French, but I did a quick search on a French-English translation site, and it appears as though "gas passer" would translate as "Essence en Passant" ... how 'bout that?
Yes...but you'd have to make it the "StratoEssence en Passant" to appease the salty old SAC has-beens...

p.s. I think that Jeff guy is a bitter IFF or RTU washout who ended up joining a guard unit as a shoe clerk. Now he's just parroting some invective he overheard from the real pilots.

Jeff, not to change the subject, but please make sure you put two slices of ham in my box lunch next time. And I really hate those BBQ flavored potato chips.

hey, dont get me wrong, i think the French have done some shaddy things, but we are not talking about that here. We are talking about tankers and, in this case, a very good tanker crew that was flying a KC-135 and doing a great job. Again, like i said, they were the best tanker crew i have ever refueled from.

with regards to WW (winged wheeler), i would suggest you go back and check your facts with regards to drogue only....maybe you could read a book about it while you orbit in the tanker track, practicing your ability to hold altitude within 500 feet.

i have a pic of us on the boom...PM me for it or i will post it in the thread to prove that WW doesnt know what HE is talking about..

Cheers,
By all means, post the photo on the thread.

I am prepared to admit that I am wrong, however, as long as I have flown the KC-135, I have never known the French to do refueling other than with the drogue attached to the boom. I have seen ATO assignments with a drogue equipped US tanker refueling French fighters, but I have never heard of a French tanker refueling a non-probe and drogue receiver.

Since the French don't have any UBR equipped aircraft, they must have fairly liberal policies as far as contact currency for the boom operator.

I've spent more time on this than it deserves. I think that you are a poser and a flamebaiter. Show me where I am wrong

WW you are correct!! I just re-read your ealier post and didn't realize what you were gettin at. No frenchy boom receivers... Their tanker is BDA only... "recently" anyway. Can only go back to AB in the history.

I think he was referring to when he refueled his T-1 with the French tanker the last time he went on a cross country to Europe. T-1s refuel with a probe, right?

Might be that Jeff FLEW IN those aircraft on his way to becoming a WSO. Wouldn't that be the training track of an AF backseater?

There have been a few guys busted on the net pretending to be military aviators and in one case, a WSO pretending to be a pilot. Gotta love the net, it lets folks live out fantasy's. I outted (way to much time on my hands obviously) one individual on a car site who had an elaborate story of being a B-52 pilot shot down in the first Gulf War. Ended up, he was in the reserves, an O-6 intel type trying to look cool.
