Tweakk,
Welcome to the forums and good luck in in your flying quest. As previously stated read and understand the issues with joining the service and wearing the uniform. There are many, many posts on this.
I think all aricraft of all services are covered by the forums members. I can help with SH-60 questions if you are interested (no jokes from the fighter types).
Good luck,
SC

Interested in joining the Air Guard
Can anybody give me some insight before I go speak to a recruiter?
I am thinking about joining the National Guard hoping to be a pilot. I was in a car accident when I was 16 and received brain trauma and collapsed lungs. I am now 30 years old, I hold a Second Class medical, and am in better shape than the average person.
Will the injuries I received keep me from passing the required medical criteria in the military?

I don't know about the Army National Guard (Helos), but you are probably too old for the Air National Guard (Fixed-Wing Air Force) or Air Force Reserves. I think you now have to be 29 (keeps changing, but always in the high 20's) by the time you complete Pilot Training, and if you're not prior service you won't get an age waiver. Sorry.
I've heard that it's fairly easy to get a waiver from the Guard if you're picked up but active duty age waivers are rare. Make sure you talk to an Air Force Officer Accessions Recruiter if you decide on active duty. Enlisted recruiters have no clue about the pilot selection process and will do their best to get you to enlist. Getting on with a guard unit is similar to rushing a fraternity. Call the UPT representative and go hang out with the guys on their drill weekends. If they like you, you're in.

When I went through the process 3.5 years ago you had to begin UPT by your 30th birthday. I made it by 3 months. It may have changed since then.

Thanks for your help. I'll check into that on Monday.
