I'm familiar with all of these except NSA. What is it? The NSA I know isn't an aircraft.

I think it stands for "non standard aircraft" but not completely sure. They've dropped several to UPT students in the past few months, so it's real. Goes to Cannon. Everything else I know is strictly rumor, and shouldn't be talked about on internet.

If you don't start out with an ego, it is no big deal!

Let's see...I got passed over but I have no responsibility and I still get to fly? Yup....pretty sweet!

Now if I can just get my boss off my back--every time I turn around he is offering advice on what I need to do to get promoted. I guess he doesn't get it.

Agree completely!
My choice was three years on a staff tour and then the *shot* at a flying tour (a few flights a month) or 4 years of instructing in the FRS - flying more than I have in a career! Now even a choice to be made.

Ha Ha.....SNAP! Been in the CF for nearly 17 years and just got offered my 5th straight flying tour (Not including a 5 year stint in the desert flying PC-9s). Work hard to deal from a position of advantage and my boss likes me but not too hard so that I get promoted. I guess it helps that I don't have a degree or speak french (yes that's needed to become a Major up here) So 42 years old 5000+ hours and a CT-155 Hawk course starting on Monday....Life is awesome

I couldn't agree more--we have a lot in common.

I have been at the squadron level my entire career. I am glad there are people out there that are interested in getting promoted, etc. but I am certainly not one of them.

What can I say? I like to fly. Besides, what with a successful business on the side and a full time civvie flying job I am a little too busy to pursue furthering my rank in the military. As an added bonus I never have to push paper.

Canuck41, in the PC-9 were you with BAE Systems at the RSAFA?

Maybe I’ve just been lucky but I’ve flown my entire career and will hit 25 years aviation service in Jan 09. For me, it’s just been letting my bosses know I wanted to keep flying. The assignments always ended up as flying ones.

I wouldn't call it lucky. I would call you the "chosen one," the "messiah" even. You are the anointed one not Obama. 25 years of aviation service WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! Unless, of course, you're Guard/Reserve. You must have had better bosses than every single bro I know in the AF to keep flying. It's a sh!t show right now.
