Interesting.
I got my commercial/instrument by taking the regs test and showing my military flight records in 1975, and the L-300 type rating was put on my certificate at that time. I got my ATP in 1976 in a Cessna 172 in 1976.
My Certificate reads:
Airline Transport Pilot
Airplane Single & Multiengine Land
B-737; B-747-4; DC-10
Commercial Privleges
L-300
English Proficient
The last time I added a rating was in 98, so could this be a new change?

I got my commercial/instrument by taking the regs test and showing my military flight records in 1996, and my BE-400 & MU-300 type ratings were put on my certificate at that time. I added the B-707 and B-720 type ratings in 1999. I got my ATP in 2001 in a Piper Seminole.
My Certificate reads:
Airline Transport Pilot
Airplane Multiengine Land
B-707; B-720; BE-400; MU-300
Commercial Privleges
Airplane Single Engine Land

Interesting how I don't get the single engine under ATP. I don't pretend to know the rules but I guess your check in a single engine got you yours. You must have added the multiengine with one of your checks later.

Side note: unless you've had a military checkride in an L-300 in the last twelve calendar months, it's too late to add the type rating to your ATP now. Interesting, but likely moot, given the excellent type ratings that you do have!

If your initial ATP (MEL) examiner erred in not "upgrading" the L-300, then there may still be hope. Talk to somebody. Having your old logs and military paperwork might be useful.

Albie,
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that the MIL 707/E3 sims are up to FAA standards for a ATP check due to the fact that they don't have circuit breaker panels. Again I could be wrong about that.
If your contact is on the east coast and want's the name of a good EP that can knock out his ATP in a day if he's up to speed PM me.

The AWACS sim was updated to a full motion level D sim in 2002, which means we can update flight currencies in it. There are circuit breakers, and the visuals were just updated in the past year- I don't know if that raises the level any more. It is very comparable to the 737 sim at Continental (motion, visuals) that I used in my interview. I'm in OK right now. Thanks for all the information!

I am debating about becoming an FAA designated examiner in the 707 (KC135) to help my fellow tanker buds get their ATP just like the Ohio dude did a while back. Anyone know how to do this or what's required?

The type-rating following the certificate level changed August 4, 1997....
Most who had an ATP with comm'l level mil-obtained B-707 & L-188 ratings from before 1997, & who hadn't got a new type since then, probably got it fixed, if they were cognizant, with the "English proficient" addition, or the change to plastic certificates.
