Look into the Marines guarunteed flight contract; just now starting college gives you plenty of time to get into shape. Or look into the Coast Guard, they do not have any guaruntees but you have nine chances to apply for flight school within your first four years of active duty and the chances are pretty good of eventually getting in.

One thing is probably even more important in the Marines than other services (not really - but at least in attitude it is).
If you go the marine route - remember that you are an Officer first, Pilot second.
I believe that it is this way in EVERY branch of the military - but to just drive the point home - you will be doing more NON-FLYING duties before you even get a chance to step into a cockpit in the Marines than any other service.
Plus - I believe that you said that earlier that you were not that interested in flying helos, and around 80% of Marine Aviation is helos.

If I don't get selected for UPT during ROTC, is it possible I could apply to ANG units?

Yeah I was just looking into it, I just want to keep my options open. In the air force your an officer before pilot too and I am okay with that. But my love of all things aviation tells me that being a pilot is my best way to do that. I would LOVE more than anything to be flying a fighter jet, but if they need me to fly a cargo plane or something that would be alright! And

I'd go guard or reserve knowing what aircraft the unit flys. AD has benefits although there is a chance for a UAV. Keep asking questions to make the best decision for yourself. Good Luck.

Your eyesight gouge is outdated. When I graduated UPT in 2000, it was already acceptable to wear glasses or contacts with eyesight being correctable to 20/20 and not worse than something like 20/50 uncorrected. Anyway, this is the current reqs - right off of U.S. Air Force ROTC - College Scholarships and Careers
Pilot
Normal color vision
Distant vision: Uncorrected 20/70, but corrected to 20/20
Near vision: Uncorrected 20/30, but corrected to 20/20
Meet refraction, accommodation and astigmatism requirements
Corrective eye surgery could be a disqualifier
Have no history of hay fever, asthma or allergies after age 12
Meet Air Force weight and physical conditioning requirements
Have standing height of 64 to 77 inches and sitting height of 34 to 40 inches
