F16 Pilot Being "Unprofessional"?
#12
Hypothetically, what if you're IFR and center doesn't vector you around the MOA or tell you to remain clear? The two aircraft were a Pilatus PC-12 and a Beechcraft Premier . . . I think it's a pretty safe guess that neither of these airplanes was operating under VFR. You've obviously been around longer, but I'd think it would be more complicated than "avoid hot MOAs."

I sure as hell don't fly VFR in MOAs. But I wouldn't bet on that ACES-II in a midair...you might not get a chance to pull the handle. See and avoid will probably work better for you.

Ugh...even though this was already an epic thread from 18 months ago, seems some people can't help themselves. Count me among them. If this really happened to you in UPT, then your moron of an IP was just as dumb as the guys who went through your MOA. YOU are supposed to be the pro, not the GA idiot with more money than sense in his Cessna.

Wow...blue on blue "even though this was already an epic thread from 18 months ago, seems some people can't help themselves."
Glass houses and all ya know. I'm guessing your bathroom doesn't need a vent fan.

The quote continued on with "Count me among them." Nothing hypocritical there, bud.

Once I was lead of a four-ship formation of KC-10s departing McGuire AFB, NJ. I taxied into position on held as per ATC instructions. After sitting on the runway for two minutes, I queried ATC as to the nature of our delay. Tower said there was a Cessna operating VFR 5 miles south of the field at 2500 feet directly into our departure path. After some discussion with my cellmates, we agreed that we could climb over him and thus we accepted responsibility for separation and asked ATC for takeoff.
I can only imagine the look on that guys face as four KC-10s flew 500 feet overhead (he was flying in the same direction so he didn't see us coming). But that is what he gets for flying just outside Class D airspace along the arrival and departure paths of an Air Force Base.
