A Military Poser in the ALPA Magazine?

Is there some place to find out if someone was a Navy F4 driver in Vietnam?
A friend of mine (a Vietnam Navy Senior Chief) has doubts about a guy at the airport.

2. Ask if he remembers the Boldface (Memory Items) for Emergency Ground Egress (this is Air Force; I assume Navy was the same):
Lower Guard-UP
Shoulder Harness-RELEASE
Inside Handle-ROTATE AFT
Outside Handle-LOCK UP
3. Ask how the canopy was raised or lowered (Answer: stored pneumatic pressure, from a pump driven by the hyraulic system).
4. Ask how the throttles were put into afterburner (Answer: have to go outboard first, then forward; often awkward if jammed against the mil-stop, and there was a 'dent' there).
5. Ask how much altitude was lost in a spin: 15,000 ft, if you recovered.

This question has weeded out the posers for me several times. I ask mainly because I love hearing stories from UPT/Primary. The USAF types almost always smile and spout off their class number when I ask. Not a guarantee that the ones who reply, "I don't know....that was a long time ago" are phonies but it does raise the antennas a bit.
Sounds like UPT classes went from year and letter to year and class number sometime in the 60's. Also seems that being a FAIP at Williams was one of the best jobs a 24 year old could ever ask for.

Sadly, that happens all too often. I met a guy at an airport in Florida -- said he was an F-4 pilot in the Air Force, so I asked him where he went to UPT (not because I doubted him, I was just interested). Dude said he couldn't remember the name of the base ..... so I started doubting at that point.

, otherwise - you just don't forget something like that!My old college roommate spent 5 years as a T-38 FAIP at Williams. Ended up in C-141s in Charelston, but I was unable to meet him again, but I have no doubt that he would have enjoyed his time there from the reactions of most that I tell that story too.

Hard to believe that anyone who went through military flight school could forget when/where. Heck, I even remember the course rules for Corpus and South Whiting.

As for North or South Whiting - remembering them after so long would be quite the feat since it seems many barely learned them to begin with (meaning that I *heard* they were quite complicated)
