Are you talking retiring 2nd time around, or continuing in RRORP?? If it's retiring again, no, I'm going to try to extend. If it's continuation in the program, let me know how you make out. Did you put in for the one year extension with CC approval??

You cannot apply for the 1 year extension until you are within 1 year of the end of your RRORP tour. Source:

I got the same answer from the lady at AFPC about being within one year to apply for the extension. From what I remember about the wording was that so long as your commander approved it sounded pretty automatic, however, now I hear it has to be approved at the Air Staff level. And with the drawbacks in officers, I'm getting skeptical. I'm hoping for the one year extension, and by then they'll realize how badly they screwed up again with the VSP stuff and need more flyers.

Can't say as I'd blame them if they did. Airlines starting to hire, doing more with less crap, and deployments out the a$$ (I'm on one now). If the recall comes, I'll seriously be thinking of calling it quits.

Retiring the second time, didn't ask for the extension since I got a job offer to start in the fall. Just wondering if anyone has done it since I'm not sure what we will be required to do. I know we should get another DD-214 and they will recalculate our pay but other than that not sure what we have to do.

Per AFPC Recall Shop just 2 months ago: "Those who retired from the Regular Air Force do not have to apply for retirement. Prior to their separation date, they will be issued orders reverting them to retirement."
I don't know how early those orders will magically appear. If you remember from the first time you retired, you had to apply at least 6 months prior, even if it was a mandatory retirement. There was a guy in my unit who didn't realize he had to retire at 20 as a passed-over Maj (back then), and at 6 months prior he got a note asking him why he hadn't applied for retirement. Hopefully it'll automatically generate something 6 months prior to your DOS.

Shouldn't be much. I thought it was pretty painless the first time. Just make sure you get your VA stuff done for the disability. I came back so fast the last time that I never did that part. Very high on the priority list this time though. Best of luck with the new job in the fall.
