"Other" Time
#1
I have a question for the heavy drivers that also have airline experience. How do you guys log the "Other" time? I am a Viper guy that is currently flying MC-12's and am curious how the airlines look at this time. Do you guys even log it? Do you include it in your total time calculations?

Getting into an argument during your employment verification about your flight times doesn't bode well for good interview results. When in doubt, ask.

Generally, most if not all majors will not count military "other" time towards their required time tables for employment. If you show up to your interview and say "hey this is primary and secondary time and it adds up to this, my total time is this because of my other time added in" then they will be happy. It is always the best approach not to use the "other" time. A lot of airlines will have that stated on their application package that for counting military time, "other" time cannot be included. I heard at United before they would not even count UPT Student time because you were not a winged aviator yet, so it really just depends on the company. But generally speaking have it on the side so you can show why your total time is the way it is, but you should only use your primary/secondary towards any airline stuff. It is just as each airline will count the military conversion differently, some use .2 per sortie some use .3, which you can let them figure it out. Just show up w/ the numbers you have and go from there. Hope this helped! Clear as mud ?:=)

Just don't use it to calculate any of the totals that the airline asks for on their apps, as mentioned by other guys above.
