Default "Other" Time

I have a question for the heavy drivers that also have airline experience. How do you guys log the "Other" time? I am a Viper guy that is currently flying MC-12's and am curious how the airlines look at this time. Do you guys even log it? Do you include it in your total time calculations?

I track it on my spreadsheet only to ensure my flying summary totals agree, but it definitely doesn't belong on an application or resume.

+1

Getting into an argument during your employment verification about your flight times doesn't bode well for good interview results. When in doubt, ask.

+1 but I have no experience outside the military (yet). However, this is exactly how I treated my Other time from my two military aircraft. I am currently on terminal leave with fingers crossed.

Cheers,

Timmy

Generally, most if not all majors will not count military "other" time towards their required time tables for employment. If you show up to your interview and say "hey this is primary and secondary time and it adds up to this, my total time is this because of my other time added in" then they will be happy. It is always the best approach not to use the "other" time. A lot of airlines will have that stated on their application package that for counting military time, "other" time cannot be included. I heard at United before they would not even count UPT Student time because you were not a winged aviator yet, so it really just depends on the company. But generally speaking have it on the side so you can show why your total time is the way it is, but you should only use your primary/secondary towards any airline stuff. It is just as each airline will count the military conversion differently, some use .2 per sortie some use .3, which you can let them figure it out. Just show up w/ the numbers you have and go from there. Hope this helped! Clear as mud ?:=)

Oh and good luck!!

The inevitable question that always arises: What about other time when you are the A-code and have signed for the jet?

Other time doesn't even show in my personal logbook.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I think I'll stick with not including it in my logbook.

NOTHING wrong with putting it in your book at all. As AlbieF15/Emerald Coast says, it can make a good diary/record of events in case you might need to recall something for a TMAAT story. Even if you may not have been the AC or whatever.

Just don't use it to calculate any of the totals that the airline asks for on their apps, as mentioned by other guys above.
