Default UAL/CAL TA passes

Good news from a former USAF brother and senior pilot with UAL...TA has passed, hiring should start soon...

Is it really good news? The TA, that is? Not trolling...serious question.

TA was not perfect, but what is. It was good enough to pass and move on to the SLI...

My friend's impression was one of it could always be better, but it was really important to work towards healing the division due to the merger. In today's environment, it is hardly reasonable to expect a lot for a little, particularly given the economy. Impending retirements both from the airlines and the military, coupled with rumored increasing of hiring, which should only increase due to the airline retirements projected, can't necessarily be a bad thing, with respect to new hires.

Here's to hoping the hiring will really begin. I hit my 20 years of mil time in June; ready to begin my next life.

Real off the street hiring should happen probably late summer as we gear up for retirements and etc... Most classes are being filled by furloughees/poolies and a few off the street (read best friends of a lot) who will fill a few of the spots before the summer slow down.

Yet DAL's contract is superior is almost every way. And theirs was signed in a similar, if not SAME economic climate.
