Default Airlines and UAV time

Anyone know how the airlines categorize UAV/RPA time? I assume they don't consider it at all, but does anyone have first hand experience?

They don't categorize it as flight time.

Thats funny. FAIP to UAV?
That's sad...a slap in the face! Poor FAIPs...at least you'll be going the J.O.B. Go kill terrorists!
Another bonus, you got some good flying time, just return to white jets before getting out, if possible, to get current.

FAIP and RPAs are two of the least desired and most important jobs. Fortunately we're starting to see some TAMI21 dudes come back to the jet, good for morale and good for their future.

I appreciate the sympathetic response. I was a faip about 11 years ago, then flew fast movers in the war and am currently in the reserves flying strat air while on furlough from my company (NetJets). I ask about UAV because I may have a shot at an AGR position closer to home flying UAV's. My concern is that if NJA goes tits up and I'm in the AGR position, I wont have any recency. If for whatever reason I can't retire from the AGR position I'm screwed and will have to find a probably poor paying gig to get some hours before reapplying to the better paying jobs. I know, potentially good problem to have, but I'm weighing all my options before making a decision. The experience of anyone who has faced a similar problem is greatly appreciated.

Based on what I'm reading, hearing from associates, etc... I'd say that getting some RPA stink on you may open some very lucrative doors for you in the civilian sector of RPA ops.

I went through the exact same thought process. I'd say if the AGR gets you to 20 do it. Otherwise you'd just be spinning wheels, unless you need the income. Work on getting with Majors and then finish your 20.

This. Even if it's not your cup of tea, it could be a good fallback position.

But RPA time counts for absolutely nada in the civil manned aviation world. I haven't even heard so much as rumors or rumblings about anyone even thinking about considering counting RPA time towards employment criteria.

I have a lot of friends that went to the Guard to fly RPA's after their commitment was up. They are all airline guys and love the RPA because its easy, good QOL and really just a means to an end (retirement/health benefits) with the AF. BL: you need to stay current. If you have your CFI or could fly part 91 for a while Id do that. Have you thought about the regionals until the Majors start hiring? I know its peanuts but its flight time. You would get an interview with Express jet in a heart beat. You could work for them for a few months then jump ship when you get a job somewhere else. Good luck
