Default Using the USO?

Thoughts on using the USO lounge if you're killing time in the airport while at work? Does that answer change if you're travelling for leisure? With the family (non-rev)?

I'm assuming showing up in (airline) uniform would be a no-go...?

I go when on leisure. Not in uniform ever, once I tried to go to the PHL one when traveling on military orders and my significant other was jumpseating with me in uniform (airline). The guy flipped out on us and made us leave. So rude

I've heard the same thing. Not sure what the diffrence is when retired in your airline uniform or retired in civilian clothing. Or a reservist working vs a reservist in civilian clothes.

I've used it commuting/deadheading out of uniform frequently. Also used it with the family traveling. That's what it's there for.

I probably wouldn't go there in an airline uniform or while I was actually working for an airline.

This ain't that hard, folks.
If you're a commuter, do you carry a "wet suit"??
If so, throw that shirt on in lieu of your uniform shirt, and you're GTG.
Questions?

I Frequently Use It On Leisure Trips. Was At The Houston Hobby USO most Recently And There Was A Guy Hanging Out In Airline Uniform, No Issues. It Probably depends On The location

Published Policy: About Our USO Centers | The Official USO Blog

Occasionally, donors who are veterans or military retirees contact us to tell us they couldn’t get into a USO airport facility because they didn’t have an active military ID card. We’ve thought about this a great deal, and as much as we’d like to open the doors to all those who have honorably served their nation and risked their lives for our freedom, we just don’t have the resources. We hope you will understand that we must focus our mission on serving the needs of those who need us most – active duty members of the military and their families. For 70 years, that’s been our mission.

I was in the SeaTac USO most recently. At one point they made an announcement that a large contingent of active duty may be coming, and if so, they would have to ask the retirees and such to vacate. I've got no problem with this. Active duty, or reservists on duty, should have first priority. My expereinces at USO have been very positive and I appreciate the effort. I wish I had had the opportunity to use them as an active duty member.

I have never used the USO while traveling in a civilian or other capacity than active duty. Now having seen and benefited from the work the USOs do for our active duty members overseas as a deployed reservist, I will continue to donate to the USO and only utilize them when I'm on orders or mobilized.

Ditto, as a reservist only while doing military-related travel (including to/from drill as a nonrev if needed). Just doesn't feel right otherwise.
