One of my favorite deployment memories is being woken up by them while resting for a 0200 combat sortie. So much for crew rest. Half the damn base was on nights, but that didn't matter.

The Air Force has never let something silly like a war interfere with the important stuff.

I know you were being sarcastic; I wasn't replying to you, and I disagree with you. Flying a jet is a piece of puss, driving while tired is extremely dangerous. I simply will not drive when I'm tired, I've fallen asleep at the wheel and was lucky to not kill anybody. My dad got in a huge accident sleeping at the wheel. Tired + driving = bad.

Sadly, many in the Air Force won't see these issues as we see them. Unfortunately, "we" are getting marginalized every day in this Air Force and I don't see that abating anytime soon. We are mocked for our traditions, our flight suits, our jobs, the way we look, act, talk, our successes and our failures, and on and on. The Air Force, in my opinion, truly has forgotten the reason it exists and our leaders (the ones who have aided and abetted this transformation) have either remained silent or joined in on the animosity. The end result is that we have articles, written in all seriousness, about the hazards and trials of a year on the road with Tops in Blue.

Just another reason to cut show bands and flight demonstration teams BEFORE you cut pay/benefits for the troops.

Best part of the show is when they put the Mess Dress on the second time...because that means they're almost done.

Nothing a little Ambien and Dextroamphetamine couldn't fix.

Whoa. Based on the fact that you know the routine that well indicates a SERE-level of exposure to this "entertainment". Just how many times have you "volunteered" for this indoctrination?
Do you need someone to talk to? Do you own any firearms?

I feel lucky that the only time I have ever watched TIB was during OTS, where they made us watch them. I wasn't impressed, it was much like some kind of AF talent show. Within the following 15 years and numerous deployments, I have gone to see them exactly zero times.

The crazy part about this story, is if we published something like that about our C-130 squadron, that we were doing things tired and unsafe, they'd stand us down, even if it meant that the mission got dropped. Yet TIB continues...
