The way growth is occurring, I’d expect to be able to bid most anything after your initial 39 month equipment lock.

My personal opinion (based on current business activity). You know aviation is full of starts and stops, however).

Initial equipment will be Phenom, XL or Sovereign.

Do not plan on the G450 being around long term. It’s very much in disposal.

I’m planning on an age 70 rule or policy at some point. The generation prior to mine always has its cake and eats steak too.

Not that I want to stay to 70…. But the generation prior seems to be the impetus for change through choices made during their career.

That being said, most pilots won’t stay past 65-67 and the ones that do are a smaller percentage of the entire pilot group currently on the list.

The average age of our current pilot group places MOST of this pilot group retiring in the next 10-15 years.

That reason alone is a HUGE reason I’d be looking at NetJets as a newhire right now.

The 550s are gone but 14 450s remain. As of last week, the program will remain until 2025 at the earliest and 2028 at the latest which will be when the last few hit 20 years in service. Barring chaos, mayhem, or another virus from beyond of course...

I got invited to the expo, but apparently it filled up so fast I didn’t make the cut. They responded back about a week or so later, and let me do a a phone interview the other day.

they are doing weekly interview groups, in small groups from 5-10. It’s a 1 day thing, they fly you out the night before, do the interview process the next day and fly out after that.

they will be doing another expo in mid to late August.

out of the 80~ candidates they had at the expo, 40~ will get offers.

they are looking to hire 300 by the end of the year and 300 next year.

as far as I can tell when you get an offer they will be offering immediate class dates

there’s like 3 HR people manning this operation, between doing phone interviews, virtual interviews, setting up the in person interviews, sim slots, getting all of the other people scheduled to come and talk to the interviewees. If you’ve responded to them, give them some time to figure it out.

Do you mind sending me a PM? I can't privately message you and I have a question.

The Global 7500 will come this fall or winter, but probably won't have any SICs for at least a year. When it does it will probably go to 18+ year pilots who mostly can't hold any Global or 650 as a PIC. I've talked to at least one current Global PIC who is considering bidding the 7500 as an SIC in a couple of years when the 52 day schedule is available on it. I'm in my 16th year and probably won't be able to hold it as an SIC until there are 10 or so on property. None of these airplanes pay more than the Phenom SIC until year 15. There are more opportunities for extended days and overtime, but less FDP pay than the 350, Latitude, Phenom and most likely the Longitude also (based on 2019 numbers). The times to hold them will all go down drastically, along with upgrade times as probably 1000+ pilots will retire, medical out, or leave for other reasons over the next decade and especially if the company is able to grow like they are planning on. Most soon to be new hires first change of airplane will most likely be into the 350 or Longitude after their initial 39 month seat lock.

Too add to your great information:

We should note that hiring stopped in Oct 2008. We have seniority list gap from Oct 2008 to Jan 2015 that we should point out to build a better picture. Yes I know there is one pilot in 2009, but he’s not a factor for bidding purposes. Having a 7 year gap in the seniority list brings things into perspective why the upgrades are so senior right now.

It’s currently at 6.5 years to hold a large cabin 650 FO, with Jan 2015 already being awarded it. Overnight, 650 FO bids were reduced by about 7 years of seniority once that 2008-2015 gap was closed by seeing 2015 hires being awarded 650 FO. We are already seeing Aug 2016 seniority in the Longitude. That will continue to go more junior as we take delivery of that new fleet. It will be interesting to see how junior the upcoming large cabin bid award goes.

It’s my (uneducated and completely useless) opinion that if this growth and attrition continues, an FO a hired today could bid large cabin as soon as the first seat lock has expired, unless the seat locks are waived. Again, there is no extra pay for large cabin until after 15 years of service.

Captain upgrades are now hitting Aug 2006 seniority and will continue to go more junior. Getting through that 2008 seniority list to close that 7 year gap is the big determining factor of future upgrade timelines for those hired today.

I would hope to see Small cabin Captain upgrades in the 5-6 year range if hired today. Again, this is just me using today’s data with my uneducated and useless opinion.

I think that whenever the Global 7500 FO bids come out, the most junior will probably be in the 2002 seniority range. I believe it will go very senior since it pays about what a small cabin PIC makes and they get all of the seniority benefits as an senior FO like vacation.

For those thinking about NetJets, it’s definitely best to get on the front side of the hiring wave. 300 pilots being hired in 2021 and I hear another 300 in 2022. I’ve never seen anything like this here. Exciting and interesting times. I just hope it continues.

I’m being told 600-700 next year… which jives with aircraft deliveries plus a few more for retirements and replenishment needed already in 2021.
