If we don't have an agreement before next summer, I wouldn't be surprised if PL is no longer the union president. I also wouldn't be surprised if most of the company's senior management is also not in their current positions as well. Operations this winter will be a total train wreck with a whole lot of angry pilots. The company will not be making the big profits if it gets to that. There will be changes one way or another. If it takes until next summer we all lose. Hopefully management will blink like UPS before there is a lot of pain. If not, the majors are all hiring.
No employer would let those angry children act longer than nja allows them to.
Next winter will be fine, same as past winter.
But the union loves those rescue those troublesome pilots who get fired. Aren't we dealing right now with a "hostage" who was already fired twice previously, saved twice by the union?

I thought the same thing. I don't see PL's union surviving next Summer, although I like PL as the helm, I also think that the company's senior management will go, whatever the outcome: if they give us a major increase, reducing profit margins, they will go, if the hold their ground to the union and dont cave for unrealistic demands they will go if the operation is affected. Although I don't see major job actions until we reach Chapter 6 in 2029.

The "angry pilots" obstructing operations will be easy to square down, they are a minority. Disciplinary actions will naturally take care of a few, even if the union keep using them as a rally call, "hostages"!!. If you don't do the job you have applied to and are paid for, more than ever in your past 20 years of employement, doing less work than ever before, with more benefits than ever before, then you need to go, nothing will ever make your bitter self happy.

You’ve got to get fired to become a hostage.
He’s getting paid, hasn’t lost any rank or money.
