NetJets reaches TA
#141
I doubt they will be hiring those kind of folks.. Netjets leads the industry in fractional/ charter flying. By the looks of the TA they probably pay more with better benefits than 80 percent of corporate operators as well. Guys wont be bailing left and right because they didnt get southwest pay for a 7/7 schedule. We all know if it gets bad enough and they cant hire they will improve the pay.

The right seat is going to become a revolving door and the line to get out WILL be longer than the one to get in. Those of us here now are most likely looking to get out. I would put money on better than 50% of the current FO list won't be here in two years. As new guys come in, get beaten by scheduling and the shiny wears off the job they'll join us in leaving. We might get a few ex-airline guys, but they'll bail as well after a short time. This will skew the PIC/SIC ratio possibly triggering the downgrade language. Welcome to the incredible shrinking fractional, right up until the ogre's successor closes up the place.
Bottom line, a newhire today will NEVER see the left seat. It is a dead end job. Period. I'm sure we're still a good alternative for some, but that number will shrink.

Guys 45 and younger will be pounding on the Legacies doors,45 and older will stay and fight on, I think it's going to pass, it's not pretty, but it's not concessionary either, either way it's going to be interesting. I do like this job, but what do I know? I liked running the gauntlet into Bagram too.

I couldn't agree more. My biggest reason for leaving NJA when I did was just due to the fact I could be a Capt at a legacy (just based on retirements alone) in the same timeframe I "might" make it to Phenom Capt. I still thought that the new TA would be a good one, though.

The fact that after 10-20+ years, a "senior" SIC (this will never be the case with a new hire) can someday hope to be a Captain in a ridiculous, tiny, overworked, non-APU, silly little bug smasher...is just one more in a very long list of consecutive slaps in the face.

Are you serious? You have been here 20 minutes and you got a handle on things? You came here for less money....what does that make you?
This TA is NOT what it should be, no doubt. But I know it is hard for some to believe, but NOT everyone wants to be a freaking airline pilot. Why is it so hard to understand that concept. I doubt you will see a mass exodus....
Again...for the millionth time, if you do not like it here...leave, and leave now. I do not want to get an airplane from you that you were too effing lazy to prep...because you were "better" than that.
Do the job you are paid and expected to do....

I don't think we'll be hiring felons and there aren't going to be many scabs left, but it will become difficult for NJA to attract applicants at some point in the future. Even more difficult to keep the ones that get hired after they get abused on the road.

If NJ pays less than other aviation jobs, regardless of what it is, they will get and keep exactly what they pay for. A few good people will always remain because they enjoy the work. A few.

I am not even sure what do do with the words you just blabbed onto a forum to formulate the crap I am reading right now. What does anything that you said have to do with what I have said?
FACT: bottom feeder operators cannot find anyone to hire unless they have actions against their certificate, has a DUI or is too weird to be hired anyone else, because the market is so high for pilots are more desirable places.
FACT: this will trickle up to the more desirable places to work like NetJets, so you will have a void where the only people willing to come here are those that can't get hired at a major, if that offends you, then too bad, be offended. Mr. Queen said it himself, they have a resume stack a mile long with retired 121 guys willing to work here after they retire. The qualified applicant stack will dry up, and you will have less desirable applicants. Or do you not understand supply and demand?
I like NetJets, and I have defended it, but I stand by the comment I made. This company will not truly appreciate the talent they have until it was far far too late. By then, they will have the bottom of the toilet to select from.
I came here for the possible opportunity of seeing gains from the new TA, I lost on that one. However I have brand recognition on my side. It will be much easier to get hired at a major from a place like NetJets than a mom and pop outfit.
You seem to rope yourself into the capsule of "I am a salty NJA pilot so only I know the industry" but I am here to tell you that you are showing your ignorance if you disagree with anything I have said. There are plenty of pilots at NetJets who think they know the full scope of the industry. Trust me, if you have been at NetJets 10+ years and plan on making it a career (nothing wrong with that) then you haven't been paying attention to the industry enough.
