The company's profile says they are hiring. Is this a viable option to look at still or should I look elsewhere? Where is the best place to build time in Anchorage area? I'm not quite ready for Alaska mins but I am sitting at around 1000 TT and most of it is P8A (737) time. I have on the low end of PIC (around 200). Thoughts on where to look? Wife is getting a job in Anchorage and I'm looking to not sit at home. lol. Thanks.
If you're deadset on 121 time and RVF would be your way in, it's viable but not amazing. You could likely jump in as a direct-entry-captain which would at least keep the pay stronger. The lifestyle is generally good. Scheduling gets a lot of leeway (can change trips last minute, etc), but it's all day trips so it usually doesn't matter too much. The training program is bad. You'll be self reliant for a lot, but if you can put your head down, learn your flows, callouts, and memory items early in the process you'll get through. The culture is coming back after the CEOs recent departure. The place is being downsized (selling planes and cutting routes), but new management insists they're dedicated to running the program. If it can get back to what it was three years ago just smaller it's a dream place to work (great pilot group, home every night). It's been pretty easy to get scooped up by AS after flying for RVF, but it definitely doesn't offer stability. No guarantee the place will be around long enough to get you to AS, but if you can stomach that the flying is fun and easy.
