OK really, last one. Thanks, I am trying, but as you know there are many factors involved. I also wanted to apologize for the lack of professionalism and maturity I have exhibited on the forum. Remember, I feel that this company was and is built on the backs of its pilots. Yes, there are many things that can be improved and some bad things have happenned without a doubt. Those things can't be changed. I will keep trying on your guys behalf whether you want to believe it or not. Also, sometimes try to see some of the good things the company does, and yes your management does do some good things for the pilots, you just may not see them all of the time. OK that is all I have to say. Be safe.

Thank you Robert for apologizing for your comments. I DID read your infamous post, in fact I responded to it and my post was deleted as well because it contained a quote from yours. To say the least your more recent posts sing a much different tune. The reality is without a union and in this economic environment there is very little recourse that the pilot group has to what ever management decides to do. Tough times are the true test of the moral compass of a company. We "laid off" roughly 15% of our pilot group, but there was no reduction in management. There are examples of airlines were there is no need for a union, Sky West comes to mind, and I wish Pen Air was one of those places. But right now we are not.

I missed the deleted post. Oh well, I'm sure it was pretty accurate anyway. Robert, everyone likes and appreciates you working for the pilots. And I'm sure management is sorry about what happened last fall, especially with all the fall out and dissent in the pilot group. Either way, all the bad mouthing of individuals should stop. I'm curious if penairpilot actually got any responses to that e-mail address posted earlier. I'm going to guess a grand total of 2. FlyorDie, no we don't get paid for repositions.

No your right………………from what I can see, I think the issue is mostly followers. Pretty much all of our pilot group consists of followers. Just like many modern religions, we do as we are told. Most of us here lack, intellectual ability and integrity. Intellectual ability because of our foresight to perceive change. An example: When a baby plays peak-a-boo, they fail to comprehend that the adult is still present. As the child develops cognitively, they understand that the adult does not disappear. In a real world perspective, our pilots are developmentally challenged. We can’t rationalize or comprehend more then what is directly in front of us.
Most of us lack integrity because we won’t fight for what is right. We just want to go to work and do our job. Slaves did that. Many of us can’t fight our master because if we get fired, we couldn’t find a new one. Whether it’s a DWI, accident, violation or our social ability, we do have skeletons in our closet(from now on I will refer to this ability to secure a new pilot job as “Slave factor”). Plus most of us would be scabs. There are groups of pilots that to this day are treated like they should be. Eastern pilots that crossed the picket line, more than 20 years ago are still known as scabs. There is a push in the industry to treat pilot groups that are too spineless to go union the same way. Here is a Penair employment timeline.
1) I just graduated from Riddle and I need a job; Flying a Caravan as a copilot seems fun and it’s the only job I can get. Never mind it’s $80 dollars a day.
2) I finally made it. I have 1000 hours and I can go fly an aircraft that is pretty much an airliner. Hopefully I made it this far and I did not need to deal with the feds because my captain decides to taxi too fast in 50 knot winds with the Caravan, and tips it on a wing.
3) Most of my Saab captains are great. They tell me how bad a union is and how great we pilots are treated here at Penair. They fail to mention that they are locked in because of “slave factor”. Besides I like the mystery and excitement of calling at 6 pm to figure out my schedule for tomorrow. Alaska airlines does this…………………..yeah. Hopefully my name does not end up at the feds, because my captain decides to depart with an inop rudder or without enough fuel.
4) I am Metro captain. It’s cool, I’m just doing my time so I can get to Alaska anyway. I’m getting my 1000 and this airplane is rad. I don’t really want a union because I’m not going to be here in a few years. That is unless I ding something up. “Defog on”.
5) I am senior Saab captain………I am god of the beast. It’s pretty much a 737 anyways. The 2000 is on the way, so I’m staying around to be part of a legacy. This is going to be the greatest regional turboprop the State of Alaska has ever seen. Never mind I’m locked here because of “slave factor” and I really have come to like giving management **** jobs. I’m telling all my FO’s how cool this place is!!!!!!
Seriously there are some really good guys in all seniority levels here at Pen. I wish I could list them, but I can’t single people out.
I’m going to try this again, I don’t think the haters are getting this. My identity is a puzzle, TT does stand for something, but not who you think. It’s really not that hard. Even though I said this, people here will still accuse me of trying to impersonate a specific someone. This is why some in our pilot group aren’t the brightest. Peak-a-boo!!!!!!!!!!!
To service my fellow pilots till the end of time………TT

Time for a change?
Dear fellow pilots,
Is a statewide pilot union the answer to our problems? I fly for a family owned airline (FOA) as well and can relate to many of the concerns in this thread. I believe it's time for all of us to come together and say enough is enough! People who fly for FOA's in Alaska are some of the most mistreated pilots in the industry and things are getting worse every day. If we don't form some type of united front against this poor treatment soon, it will be too late and we'll barely recognize the tattered remains of our profession just a short time from now. The largest carriers in the state are merging together and after that process is complete they will eliminate the smaller airlines and begin the absorption of the rest that are left over. Alaska Airlines plans will be complete and the two largest carriers left (Penair and Frontier Alaska) will feed them passengers and vis versa.
What does that mean for us as pilots? The FOA's will treat us any way they want! They will cut wages and reduce the quality of life in the blink of an eye and we'll be powerless to stop them and we'll have nowhere else to go!
If we organize now, before the FOA merging process is complete, we'll have a better chance to bargain for better wages and work conditions as one large statewide pilot union that understands the needs and concerns of pilots that fly in Alaska.
Should I start a separate thread on this subject? Let me know what you think.
Good luck and Thanks

Been out of the loop lately. But just heard that our fearless leader was in Canada recently trying to sell the Metros. ***, we are flying our asses off and he wants to get rid of them. This happened right before our "METRO CHEIF PILOT" announced he was leaving soon. So does the Rudderman know something that the rest of the metro drives don't? I am sure that all the metro guys will be retrained in the Saab and if there are layoffs it will be purely by seniority, management has truly changed since ALL the fall out from last year. Yeah right!!!!!!! I would get your resume ready.

A Penair pilots dream 09'........
The blue sky calls
Port of Dutch, beckones my skills
This is why I was chosen
I am Heman of the sky
Created by the sky gods
She glistens in the morning sun
Long and slender, she penetrates the Alaskan frontier
Metroliner, a technological masterpiece
But the end is near
No engines for the Cherokees
No cargo 340's
No Saab 2000's
I have been misled
We have no more capitol
Soon I will be released to the streets
Just as my companions of the past
Spenard will provide for my family
