My travel plans were emailed a day or two before I was set to leave.

Wow that is cutting it close since class is to start on a Monday and I would like to have the travel set up before the weekend so I can call if their is a problem.

Cruz5350 01-05-2012 02:12 PM

Yeah it is a bit nerve racking, but you'll make it!

Im assuming its because they want to make sure the flight won't fill up and you'll be able to get on positive space...

Shouldnt be a factor is you are NRPS. Crew skd can always overbook a flight for dead-heading or MRIDE's. You can always be crazy and volunteer your seat, but I would not recommend it, you don't get comped for it.

Would you guys take the JS if you're DHing to get 1 pax on?

Weird question? Do the GIA 1900's have the optional lav installed? I know there are some airlines that have them, and some don't.

Can't imagine what someone would do who has frequent intestinal gymnastics during their 5-6 leg day! :o

Friendly suggestion.
If you, new employees, and hopefuls want to start trying to distance yourselves from the old ownership/management, I suggest that you quit referring to anything having to do with Silver (or questions pertaining to Silver) withe the old name or initials - - especially in the thread titled Silver Airways ;)
I also might suggest that you all quit posting in the older thread and let it die. The thread will probably stay because anyone not familiar with recent events will initially be drawn to that thread title. Maybe Cruz or another of the recent hires could try to steer others to this thread.

Edit:
I see you guys already are working on the above.

At my current airline sometimes deadheaders will take the JS to help out and give agents a hand on oversold flights. I think certain airlines such as 9E wont give you full pay credit if you take the jumpseat. At least thats what I was told by some 9e pilots, not sure if it applies to 3M as well.

I guess it would depend on the length of the trip, definitely a long trip would make you second guess riding in the soup bowl when you have a seat in the back. Not to mention if your ride on RJ's (crj200 mostly) bad weather/density altitude can dictate weight restrictions and the JS might be unusable due to it.

Forgive my stupidity, but if you're forced to ride the jumpseat, do you get any sort of pay, considering technically you are a crew member? And when you non-rev (when Silver flies me down for training for example) do jumpseat rules apply, like business/airline attire?

I am in the Jan 16th class and haven't been given travel info yet either. I did get a call asking from where I would be leaving, but that was it. Seems like there are a lot of us here in that class. Is it still supposed to be just 20 people? Cruz did guys in your class get base assignments yet? Also how is seniority determined within each class?
