To all you junior guys, enjoy Florida while you can, the staffing bid will probably throw things in a blender as far as where you are flying. There are lot of senior pilots who have just been waiting for TPA and ATL to pop up and become crew bases on the Saab. But the good news is, if you get displaced, you get moving expenses. The northeast is nice, as long as you don't mind snow and small towns. The people up here are tops, and it's like a family with the crews, ramp agents and managers. BFD is a great base, and the experience you accumulate up here will be invaluable to your career and your flying skills. Pay attention and always be ready to learn.
Are you going over to the saab as a captain or FO?

FO. I know one guy from the NE who is going CA 1900 to CA Saab in next month's class. According to the latest base award (5/19) he'll be the second-most junior CA on the Saab right now and he's been here for 5+ years. Word is there should be some Street CAs going to the Saab since 1900 new-hires are no longer happening for now. The bid award had about a half-dozen Street CAs from the 4/30 new-hire class that were unassigned beyond CA status (no equipment or base listed). There are also 8 FOs on the bid award who are 4/30 DOH but on the Saab. It's gonna get complicated when the System Staffing Bid happens this summer, lotsa guys who are low on the seniority list who are holding seats that I know a bunch of senior pilots want. Gonna be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

Like I said, for all you new pilots here, be prepared to get shuffled around. Those who have previous 121 experience will know this song by heart already.

I just checked the website, it looks like Silver raised their mins from 1000TT to 1500TT and added the requirement for the ATP written.

Already up to 1500TT? They just upped it to 1000 a couple weeks ago. Must have a thick stack of resumes...

Yeah, Good Luck to them on finding bodies now. I wonder why they went to 1500 now? I hope someone in HR doesn't think the new law goes into effect August 2012.

There isn't time to train the new hires in the 1900 and then do the transition training. Why train someone to fly something that is going away? The answer is they're not going to. EVERYONE is going to the Saab it's just a matter of getting them on property and getting the flights started ASAP... If this weren't true then why the street captains? I know it stinks for those in the 1900 right now but I think the fact that they're doing it this way shows how much growth they are ramping up for... I'm excited to be on board...

Congrats and that's really good news to hear concerning the growth and what's perceived as the potential stability of this (new) company.

Well I got in the class on the 4th with only 1300 tt, and 110 me...so I guess some of us were lucky to get in before they changed it to 1500.
