Why no names. I don't mind saying captain bypass without any fear. Chris you running next time if you are still here.

You guys need to understand that your company is too small to have a powerful union, no matter who is running it. You could have the best people in the business in your union, but in the end even they have no real power to do anything other than be a sympathetic shoulder to cry on (complain to).

Silver is what it is, there is no getting around that in their current size. You can't squeeze blood from a turnip. If you came to Silver hoping for that quick upgrade and it is not panning out for you, it might be best to consider Silver as a place to build a little FO time and as a pure transition to getting your foot in the door to a larger carrier such as AE as an FO.

Stop and think about this for a minute. As I said in a previous post, there will be those of you who are going to be stuck at a commuter airline against your will. It just happens that way. Wouldn't it be a wise choice, if you are going to be stuck, to latch onto to a commuter/regional airline that at least will be flying some 70/90 seat jets where bases don't open and close all the time with the future possibility of a flow through? Many of you guys are young and single, but there will come a time when you have to put your families needs right up there with your own. If you agree with this, than choose stability now.

Here's the other thing to think about. Let's say you are lucky enough to get that future major airline fo slot. Given the age of all the pilots that will be hired at a major airline over the next 3-5 years, will you ever make Captain at the major or will you have no choice but to retire as an FO or only sit in that captains chair for a year or two?

It sure is something to consider. Silver is what it is. When you were hired there you were excited, but 6 months later it is no longer so shiny. My friends, the future will be here before you know it, seems weird, but you really need to already be thinking long term down the road as best as you can.

The no names is out of respect for the individual I was referring to. We all know who I mean but I did not ask him to use his name nor would I so my description will have to do. Me work as a union rep? No friggin way. That job is an overworked thankless task reserved for a select few. I am a do my job and go home kinda guy. I take great pride in my work and doing it well. That work is flying. Not office politics standing up for people that get caught doing something dumb.

There is a storm brewing for the months to come, with nearly 30+ FO's dequaling and half leaving to different carriers the future for silver isn't so shiny as it seems. Take a look at the open times for CKB, MEI, AOO, and TPA.

The restricted ATP is at a total stand still right now anyways so depending on how many are short the hours it will really gum things up. Also if you're using sim time towards your 1500 you will need one of two things. Your logbook endorsed by the instructor and what you covered or copies of your training records showing times, what you covered, and signature of instructor. This doesn't just pertain to Silver.
