Default Calling all C5'ers (Commutair)

I've done my share of using the search function everyone's always so hot about but wanted to get some fresh takes on the company and the interview process. I'll be getting the white glove test in two weeks.

Any words? Thanks for your time.

Rumor is they're asking Q400 questions in the interview...

C5 is a good choice. As far as the interview study the guage, VMC, JEPP Charts, and your last multi you have flown. If you know this stuff and are a good fit there is no reason why you won't get hired! Training is excellent as well as the instructors! Sounds like most newbies are going to EWR. Last I heard upgrade time is anywhere from 12-18 months! Its a smaller airline, but I think that is for the best especially in these economic times. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info! Does the company seem pretty stable, i.e. doesn't have a big history of furloughs?

Hi I am interviewing at Commutair next week too!

Will Tim Matins be my captain? I am hoping for some guys with military fighter time to teach me stuff.

Furlough close to ten years ago. Nothing since then.

They don't grow much. Not growing much = not much chance for failure. When they do grow much, they do fail (see the Q300 debacle).

The crews are great for the most part, I really enjoyed flying there. The rest of the company...eh.

so its a company that does ok having a few 37(ish) seat turbo props that are out dated, but when they try to expand fail big time. Owned by some family. Have all their eggs in the united hat now.

When does that contract run out with UAL?? How are MX costs on the Q200 and when do they start requiring heavy MX?? Historically when the Q200 gets heavy on MX it heads straight to Coors. Only other place with them I think is Piedmont, whats their fleet plan??

That's what I would be asking, since in a single ejaculation they could be nothing more than a Wikipedia article and facebook group.

They were absolutely beautiful when they showed up on property. Of course, they quickly started having issues (minor stuff, but still) which, combined with CommutAir's astounding maintenance, translated into major scheduling headaches with only five planes.

It got so bad that United couldn't reliably schedule them onto routes, and apparently said 'no thanks' to C5 getting more of them.
