Great Lakes' Part 135 plan
#692
One should apply to a bottom-feeder airline because one wants to work at that particular bottom-feeder airline, not for some other reason. Only then will working conditions and pay scale improve in the industry. Saying "but so-and-so did it" is not a valid excuse.

My old roommate is at lakes and said it's true that the pay is 22/hr (1st yr FO). Not sure if it was just first year FO pay or a company wide raise. Given that most of their routes are EAS it's like a great tax return!
But, the training is difficult. He said half of his class didn't make it through training. Bad news for trying to find another airline job. So if you skip the CFI route for lakes, better know your stuff.

Talked to a buddy of mine the other day. Said they had about 120 pilots on deck. They are still running ground school and may be looking for street Captains in the future.
