34 still isn't bad. I'm looking for something at least in the 30s. Any less then that and bills will go unpaid.

The 2 pilots I met from Baron/Fed-X had been there more than 5-6 yrs each. They were planning to retire there and had no plans on giving up those routes. It was in Grand Island,Ne and the Omaha area. Maybe their salary's were a bit higher because of the time they had but not sure.

Four year pay with any of the feeder companies is right around 40-42k. The pay generally tops out at around 60k for flying the Caravans.

Does anyone have any more current information on Baron Aviation? Specifically what their minimums are, routes, pay, equipment, etc?

Thanks!

OLD THREAD. I knew some of the guys circa mid-90's, all retired airline/military who were happy with flying 1 hour a night, RON, then 1 hour to get back home. Was a way to stay busy, out of mommas hair, and make a little money. Granted most had pensions/retirements already coming in. Never heard one complaint about company management/etc, zero. Circa mid-90's.

I knew two fellers that did this type of flying at night and then did part 91 pipeline patrol during the daytime. Making 60k/yr at night and then another 50k or so flying a few hours during the daytime didn't sound too terrible. A whole heap of flying though if you think about it.

Default the Skinny on Baron

I flew for them about 7-8 years ago and have nothing but good things to say. I kinda regret leaving

Pay is 37 to start they may bump you up a little if you have time in C208

Night flying no touch freight, short flight go to crew hotel return home next morning on some routes.

MX is good well maintained planes

If you get the boxes there great but if weather is really bad/unsafe they don't push but you are expected to do you job

Training is now at FSI Wichita Indoc is in Vichy MO The DO,CP and entire staff are really nice good people.

The generally don't have a lot of turn over which is a good sign. You are hired for a specific base

PM if have you any other questions

Thumbs up Baron Aviation Services

Baron is equivalent to a part 121 Regional carrier of a Mainline Brand Airline, but in the part 135 world for FEDEX. Currently operating C208BG600 Caravans. The route structure is displayed at the Baron Aviation Services website.

All operations are Single Pilot IFR. Requirements are also listed on the company site.

Training is scheduled at Flight Saftey. (initial/recurrent)

The Fleet of 37 Caravans operates Monday through Friday, and some routes are Monday through Saturday.

A serious cargo carrier for FEDEX. No Jump seat, No pass riders.

Single Pilot operations minded company.

Call sign “Show Me”.

A great career alternative. Flying freighters is a challenge.

A clise friend of mine was there a couple years back. That was 7 years ago, so somewhat stale report. Pay was low 40s to start. Automatic cola every year. G600 Caravans with CAV Aero weeping wings. Really well maintained birds. Quality of life depends on which route you take. Some bust ass others are pretty easy. They have floater pilots also, if you want you can get that job. Single pilot IFR at night so the flying is serious. You will see all kinds of weather' and the job is not for scaredy cats. There was no flow through any where, dead end job, but it is a good way to build a resume. Management was fair.
