On a side note. If you are a super trooper, you can commute on FedEx one leg. So lets take a normal line fly 6am-7pm or so...11 legs.... Take delta home....have dinner with family....hop on FedEx that night and arrive at 1am....sleep in the terminal..... Fly your 6am line again. It has been done.

KingAirDriver 01-19-2013 06:34 PM

Wife and I will be flying with you guys out of SLN in late Feb. Looking forward to it.

kingairfun 01-19-2013 07:57 PM

Job sounds like a dream:rolleyes:

Yikes! It really did sound cool - I love the PC12...

Pirate 06-27-2013 10:31 AM

No SeaPort info on ALPC profiles anymore?
Are the Captains still in the mid 40s/yr?
Are there 7 on 7 off skeds?

AZFlyer 06-27-2013 02:21 PM

I'm also interested in knowing more. Can anyone give a current description of life/pay/bennies, etc at SeaPort?

14Kayr 07-10-2013 06:15 AM

Friend of mine just left there for cape air and another left for corporate gig
they told me to send my resume if i wanted to fly a caravan bc they are changing fleets. 40 per hour for captain $20 for FO. they said the company is hurting for pilots and can't keep people long enough to stay stable.

the guys are flying some lines at 100+ a month. if you wanna build time quick go there but be warned some people say its hazardous place to work. "supposedly" it's getting better my buddy said. hiring again in august.

This place sucks and you will only get abused and fly old old caravans with a CEO that's a used car salesman.

Redstone256 07-16-2013 05:31 PM

Anyone know how many SeaPort is hiring in August?

Will everyone hired in Aug be based in Memphis?

Any MEM based hiring currently going on ?

They just finished up a rather large class. There hasn't been any talk of another class yet, but I would image they'll run one in the next few months. Keep checking the orange site for the job posting, they seem to use that site quite often.

Orangemx 12-23-2013 04:38 PM

I'm starting to be a little curious about this company. I have family in Memphis and wouldn't mind living there. What is the orange site? Does anyone have any updated info on this company? Specifically and obviously, are they hiring?

Memphis is still the biggest base and the base that new hires generally get so getting based there is almost a sure thing. If you have family there, even better. Portland and San Diego are smaller and senior. Currently hiring and running classes every couple of months. It's a first job for most of their pilots.

The orange site is climbto350.com

Decisions decisions..... I don't know. I am already getting burned out doing laps around the pattern. According to a few posts in this thread of posts, working at Seaport seems to really stink. Only having 4 days off a month isn't that bad as long as one could be home at night. That's what I do now. However, this company sounds like I wouldn't be home very much.

Redstone are you there now? I guess I could just apply and see what they have to say. I know I can hold out for another 9 months of instructing.

I just left there for a regional. Flew for a year and averaged 8-14 days off a month and about 90-115hrs of flight time a month. High end, 2k after taxes. Maybe 100-200 in periderm as well. Most lines are 5on 2off. If you're interested drive in and drop a resume off. Have them give it to Mark E. They'll know who that is.

It's a great places to build a ton of time and experience. I enjoyed my time there a lot, but it is a hard job and isn't for the faint of heart. You do have CASS and half my roommates commuted every week to all over the country.

Good luck!

Not that it's enough for FOs either, but this is FO Pay, I hope?
Any idea what Captain take home looks like?

Memphis captain pay comes up to be like 40-50k and fo pay is 20-30k depending on how much you fly. Do not count on per diem what so ever. All numbers are per tax. Lines are typically not "commutable" unless you are super senior aka lifer type. Of the 11 or so captains the top 5 are all lifers with duis and criminal issues.

I have a lot of friends currently or formerly at SeaPort. Compared to the Caravan operator I was at, this place sounds like NASA. Give it a shot.

Remember it is a 1 year training contract for new hire class and when you upgrade you must resign it for 1 year. The terms are legal and they have filed leans and have won civil claims against former employees.

That's incorrect. There's no training contract after you upgrade. The CP asks for a gentleman's agreement of 3-6 months as a captain before you leave.

They do and have gone after people that have left before 12 months as an FO. But if you can't commit, then don't go to SeaPort. Or payout your contract. Very simple really.

Natca 01-03-2014 05:18 PM

I will say this place may have changed since I was there, apparently the management has turned over recently.

I left 3 weeks ago. It's far from perfect, but there are worse places to work that's for sure. It got me where I wanted to go and I got to fly with some great guys.

Orangemx 01-05-2014 05:25 PM

Alright! Well I'm going to send a resume as soon as I graduate this spring. Hopefully they will be hiring then.

Coryk can you give some info on what things I need to pay attention to for prepping for a possible interview and how I can better my chances for an invitation?

Currently am a CFI, SEL, SES, MEL, and A&P, with about only 680tt but should be pretty close to 1000tt by May (I hope ). I plan on getting my CFII in the next few weeks.

Pretty simple. Attitude and personality. Commercial pilot stuff. You'll be fine.

Could you elaborate a little? Is there a sim/instrument eval or oral knowledge eval, etc?

Thanks.

Hey, I am new to ALPC too and I have my resume in with SeaPort, do you happen to know when they will be hiring in the future? I also heard that they were expanding into Baja California... Can you tell me anything about those things? Sorry about all the questions at once.

Natca 02-18-2014 04:46 PM

Well they just geared one up friday in SLN.... Wonder what will happen

Natca 02-20-2014 01:49 PM

Pilots fired after gear-up landing in Salina - Wichita Business Journal

In typical seaport fashion both pilots fired. Atleast they dont have to repay their training contact....

Junglejett 02-20-2014 02:07 PM

Do you know the full story? If I had a couple pilot gear up a perfectly good airplane (If that was indeed what happened), I would fire them too. You cannot coddle the weak.

The company that I flew for before my present employer fired a very experience pilot for landing gear up in an airplane.
In other profession often cited as a career on this board, I know of two attorneys who made a fairly simple mistake during a trial that were fired on law ethics violations.
It isn't just SeaPort or even airlines where some mistakes are handled with removal.

Aviator89 02-21-2014 11:17 AM

Forget to put the gear down and Gear up land a perfectly good plane? (If thats what happened) Yeah you deserved to get fired and possibly your cert's re eval'd. Sorry, but like Junglejett said, you cant coddle the weak. Or flat out stupid. I know mistakes happen, but come on! The one thing you absolutely need to have deployed to land safely and you forget it!? The aviation community and your passengers are better off without you.

tscuff 02-23-2014 10:01 PM

Anyone know their FO minimums? Can't seem to find them anywhere on their site. Working on my CFI now, but thinking of applying if I feel I have a decent shot...

They've been hiring FOs with time as low as mid 300s.

I'm assuming there's a before landing checklist, no?
