Thank you for your reply AEav8r and for all the info you have put up here the last several months. I am sure I am not the only one who wants to learn as much as they can about working for Surf Air, and who appreciates your input. At what point do First Officers get their SE ATP? Is that included in the training that Surf Air provides before an FO starts flying the line?

I've flown with a couple FO's that are just going to bite the bullet and do the ATP ride in a cessna 172, and then upgrade afterwards. obviously it'd be nice if you could just do the ATP ride in the sim at upgrade, but as of right now, this is the way its being done.

I see. Thanks guys.

Do any of you currently working for Surf Air know management's policy on their pilots flight instructing on the side? Correct me if I'm wrong but 135 ops limit flight time to 120 hours in a month. Say on the high side you flew 100 hours that month, that leaves an extra 20 hours you would be able to flight instruct if you had your CFI ticket. Do any of you know if any Surf Air pilots do this, or if management allows this? It could be a great way to supplement FO pay as long as management was cool with it.

Policy: Management is open to it, though they fully expect you to play by the rules of crew rest and duty limits. I would say a good portion of SurfAir FO's instruct to make ends meet. I also know of a few Captains moonlighting on the side if they are typed or if they have connections.

Awesome thanks for the info

Thank you! Glad to help! Unfortunately as has been answered by my colleagues, until we can get a DPE on property we can't do the ATP checkride in conjunction with upgrade.

Personally I think AEav8r would make a great DPE. The question is if he wants to be a DPE.
