Default Flying to the Bahamas 135

So, I have been tasked by the small company I work for to set us up for Bahamas flying. I have no idea where to begin! I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction? We fly a King Air 200 and a 90.

Just off the top of my head here's a checklist:

1-update your insurance to cover you in the Bahamas

2-buy your customs decals online at the cbp (customs/border protection) site

3-your opspecs to include Bahamas if they don't already

If you aren't already familiar with the customs process into/out of the U.S., just ask me in the pm. Same goes for the Bahamas, paperwork is pretty easy, and you can find forms online too.

Fltplan's eapis service must be awesome! I never used it but it seems very convenient and worth the money. If not, it just means someone will have some more work to do at the computer.

Ever flown into/out of the Bahamas?

Don't forget the Bahamian charter permit issued by the Bahamas CAA well as Bahamian OpSpecs (basically a copy of the FAA's OpSpecs but from the Bahamas)

Also

-Ensure Bahamas/Caribbean is approved as an area of operation in your OpSpec.

Whatever you do, bring cash. Lots and lots of cash. Haggle, but not too hard.

And a tip that I picked up...as you get to know the customs/immigration officers, bring some fresh fruits, snacks even frozen chickens and things to give away. It'll make them like you more and have an easier time when **** hits the fan on a bad day or you just want to build rapport. I used to even grocery shop for them from time to time; made my job easy as pie!

Thanks for the help guys, Sorry for the late reply. This stuff definitely helps. We already do part 91 flying there for one of the aircraft owners, I am just trying to figure out what we need to do here before we can take charters there
