Default Gold seal instructor?

I have my CFII and IGI and have signed off 10 students for checkrides. They all eventually passed but one of them failed once and another failed twice.

Does this still meet the requirement for a gold real flight instructor as 80% of the students passed on their first attempt?

Is this a math question or policy/interpretation?
How many of your 10 students passed on their first attempt at the certificate or rating sought?

Sign off at least one more with a first time pass.

Who the hell cares?

Your not going to be hired at any airline, charter, corporate job, or any other career fly i job because you are a "Gold Seal" instructor.

Agreed. I see instructors so scared to put their student up sometimes because they dont want to lose their "perfect princess" streak. Kind of disheartening to watch.
Hell, ive been in instuctor myself for 3 years now, 600 hours dual given and only 3 signoffs. 1 out of the 3 failed first attempt. I could care less what MY pass rate is. I do care about if the student is safe and that he learned why he failed. In the end, all it is is bragging rights that no one else cares about.

Apathy for pass rate is understandable for those that are more concerned about logging hours than giving quality instruction. The inherent liability of being a CFI should provide self-motivation to provide high quality, attentive instruction.

The FAA will come knocking if you are outside the bell curve.

It certainly can’t hurt.

When I handed over my certs at the beginning of my first airline interview the guy interviewing me said, “Ooh... Gold Seal!” to which I said something about me and my students both working hard for that. Similar small talk ensued. The good letter came via FedEx a week later.
