Come to Florida. I'm sure that there is a Part 61/141 operation around that would hire you as a SE/CFI. Maybe you can get hired; get check out in a ME a/c; become MEI and then start building your ME time.

Lots of options down in the Sunshine State!

Good luck to you!

How many flight schools in Florida have MEI programs.. Meaning, if I come teach at them will they get me my MEI and be able to build time. I know usually there is competition for these slots and seniority usually wins out.. How long after working for a school will they help you get the MEI...

I think you may need to look in the mirror at the one my friend. The shortage at the regional level has occurred, and over the next 5-10 years will get interesting at the major level too. The major level will still be able to be somewhat selective , but we will see massive hiring numbers there again soon. But at the regionals, we need all the warm bodies we can get. No regional right now is where they want to be target wise.

Or...your "friends in high places" are greatly misinformed.

I am a chief pilot for a 135 operation in AK and I just hired a 560TT guy to start in a C-172 with no AK time. He was highly motivated and made a good impression and was hired over guys with higher time with AK experience.

Hope it all works out in both parties favor.

Is that common? I have twice that time with 900 tailwheel and would love to get to alaska. I know operators up there usually hire in the spring. Is that a better time to start looking?

I interviewed next to an ex ComAir guy yesterday for Air Wisconsin. I'm fairly certain he got the job.
