Default ATP flight school instrument training

ATP flight school in Dallas offers "Glass Instrument" training in 15 days. What does this acutally mean? Do they provide the DPE or do they just give the training and it's up to the student to find a DPE? How do they get someone instrument rated in 15 days? I'm interested in this because I might go through them if this is in fact the case. Any information on this would be appreciated.

Yes, you will be flying for the two weeks you are there. All it cost is $6,995, unless you need more time.

If I'm not mistaken, that location has (had) two DPE's there that did everything except CFI initial.
My assumption is the checkride is included in that price. You could call up there and ask a CFI, he or she should be able to tell you for sure.

Nope. Plan of $450 cash money to the DPE - but they will get him for you and give you a perfect outline of what the checkride will look like.

Thanks. I contacted them and they confirmed what you said. However 15 days does not seem enough to get an Instrument rating. They said I'd by flying everyday, which makes sense, but still doesn't seem like enough to prepare for the PTS. Thoughts?

I agree that 15 day's is quick. It looks like you will need to have your Instrument written taken prior to showing up for the course or taken while you are there.

Completion Certificate from Instrument Rating home study program of your choice

You will be drinking from the "Fire Hose" everyday. should be fun. Also you will probably fly in instrument weather because they might not cancel flights.

ATP Alum here. 15 days is enough. Your instructor is going to fly you hard in order to pass the checkride, and when you're on the ground, you will use the sims practicing over and over and over and over. It's a good thing that they're free.

Seems like a good deal if you are able to commit to flying 15days straight

I notice all aircraft are g1000. Would this make it difficult to then go fly IFR in a 6-pack?

I was thinking the same thing. I'd think you'd be limited to G1000 a/c until you got some steam experience.

Are they equipped with an auto-pilot?

It took me a while to develop the "scan" while hand flying and "pulling on the ADF's tail" and learning to speak IFR to ATC.
