Do you get paid while deadheading? What are the rules like for commuters?
What is the uniform allowance (if any)?
Are Jepp chart (and maybe even binder) provided?
Hotel is provided. Double occupancy until you start APT/sim, then single after that. Deadhead pay is half credit (50%). No uniform allowance; cost is deducted from your paycheck $10 each check. Jepps provided.

Reserve depends on your base. At MDT you're likely to be off of reserve very quickly (1-2 months) because of high attrition. LGA has been slow lately, but the latest new hire class had a few going there, and my guess is that the next class will too. I don't know that anyone has gone to SYR in a while. I've been on reserve in ROA for 6 months and have finally gotten a build up line for March, but one of my classmates is the only straight reserve for the month. ROA hasn't gotten anyone new since we got here. Nobody has gone to EWN in a while...I'm not real sure about the others (CHO, SBY). But I guess the good news is that there has been least one class a month so far this year, so more than likely you'll be able to get off of reserve in a decent amount of time.

since not many people have been going to EWN, SYR, ROA...does that probably mean that you're not likely to get it out of training if you requested it? I heard most are getting LGA, but some got MDT last class...

and is SBY a very senior base for f/o's? (and is it nice there?)

EWN is very slow moving. I doubt anyone will get it from this next class. I don't know about SYR. In ROA we've lost a few FO's lately, so it's possible. SBY got a handful of FO's in the last 3 months...not sure of their current attrition.

SYR will need FOs unless it loses flying (newest rumor I heard) since we've lost 3 FOs in the past month, and probably another couple soon from what I hear.

I'm sure none of the bases will be too bad but I'd like LGA or SYR off the bat. However from what the say, if you don't get the base you want out of training it shouldnt take more than a bid or two to get it.

Problem is that they only have bids when there is a newhire class, so when they're not hiring, you're stuck. I left, but when I was there I was sitting reserve in SYR with a year senority. Spent my last motnhes in LGA where I held a b/u and a junior line. Lsst I saw (a few monthes ago) LGA lines were pretty nice with 14-17 days off, with the start and sinnish of a stretch ususaly both early or both late (some of PDTs other bases are full of trips that start early and end late). There is more flying in LGA during the summer (rich folks to MVY and ACK), so I believe they ususaly add 2 or 3 slots in the spring beyond whatever attrition is producing. Even with the long(er) call out LGA is a lousy place to sit reserve, but its also a pretty easy palce to get off reserve.

If anyone wants a bargain on a blazer (42?), pants (32w), trenchcoat (largish), and hat (7 1/2), ties (normal and clipon), and epilets (fckng spllng), drop me a line.

That would perturb me.

How is it sitting reserve in LGA...do you fly a lot? are you sitting at the airport a lot or do you have enough notice so you can just hang at your crashpad? (I know some people at other airlines that have to sit at the airport sometimes)

and since there are a lot of out-and-backs, how often do you really get to overnight in other places?...basically never?

I'm just looking for the pros/cons so I'll have a better idea whether I should bid that or not...because I'm thinking that would be the most commutable base to the north east...plus I'm guessing reserve time there would be less than at other bases (am I right on that)

I could have sworn they said you could bid every month but I guess I was wrong.
