Here is another question. The HR rep said in your new hire class you will be given a seniority number (between the rest of your class numbers) based on the last four digits of ur SS number. So which would be a better number really high or really low.

While I was there (left last thanksgiving) they only had openings appear when there were new hires (which was about once a month during the sunny months) and for the base realignment. I was hired in October and the next round of awards became effective in May.

LGA reserve callout is either 90 minutes or 2 hours. I'm leaning towards the later, I think it was 90 before the TA last spring. In LGA I would usualy have 1 or 2 overnights per month, but things could certainly have chagned. Reserves would usualy get more if they were being used. The amount of flying you actauly do depends on a million things. While in ROA last year I flew 17 hours in jan or feb, (and dead headed 19), while another guy almost broke 100 credit in the same base. The trips that came up just happened to be on the days he worked or something. Don't bother calling last out/first out, when you have 3 reserves in domecile its just a joke with no punchline.

It perturbs me that folks don't know how good they have it right now. On that note, nobody should have to sit reserve for long here in the upcoming future, we're hurting and badly for FOs. Things are so fluid at this and every airline that a base that is junior could suddenly jam up and the junior guys get to be reserve guys for a while, especially if you have luck like doug_or. Of course he lived in the basement too, of all the bad luck. Regarding HR telling you that you bid every month... they either meant you bid every month for a schedule, or they meant that you can change your base bid every month. You can change your base bid (permanent bid) every other minute if you choose, but you can only change bases when they publish and award a base bid by either vacancies or realignments. Look for a lot of those coming soon as we bleed pilots.

Do any pdt guys have any thought on how long reserve would be at SBY?...and how are those trips from there (anything like the out-and-backs like lga), days off, etc?

and what shot would a new hire have at getting SBY as a base?...just looking for some pros/cons of SBY?

Thanks

I'm not sure how long reserve would be there, but the trips are not out and backs. On reserve you will probably still only see 10 days off since they are so short on F/Os. If they don't need you in SBY they will DH you somewhere else to fly. But, doesn't look like SBY will have any openings this month, but it may open up next month.

Well I don't start training for another week or so, so maybe by the time I'm done, it'll have some openings...

Anyone of you guys have a favorite base?

...and does anyone know where most of the old Allegheny CA are based?...just curious
