Combat aviators with more experience than taking off and hitting the autopilot are coming en masse and it is a good thing. Certainly, there will be some folks who are duds but the majority are more than capable. Conservatively speaking, 500 hours of 121 time should be enough for most to figure out how to dodge storms and do weight and balance calculations.
The reason this works for the army is they have more aviators and helicopters right behind them if they ball one up. This is an airline, not a war machine. We lose an aircraft, we lose the company.

As was said before I’m sure you are a great rotor pilot. Airline pilot, not so much right out of the transition

Please let me clarify. Im not saying we should have a rotor to captain program. It's different flying and you need experience in the 121 world to know what you are doing. I'm simply saying that the 1000 hour 121 rule that the FAA put forth is more than enough. Shouldn't make a 3000 hour rotor guy have to get 2500/2000 fixed wing on top.

Why not? That gives them a few seasons of IROPS WX dispatch snafus etc etc

However it does make the quick transition from PDT to fedex take longer

I suppose we shall agree to disagree, Sir. No matter what side of the fence you are on, the rotor upgrades will happen fast at every regional here pretty soon.

Considering any purebred MTP rotor pilot will have 1000-1750hrs in the jet before their captain SOE is complete, fears that they’re going to be any worse than anyone else with 1000-1750hrs upgrading in the jet are probably overblown.

Ideally a pilot won’t bid for upgrade until they’re ready. If they do the upgrade process will confirm they’re ready.

Rumor I heard is we don't have any First Officers legally qualified to upgrade after June.

The 145 is easy to fly. As long as you can play video games you can follow a flight director/trend vectors. Helicopter guys do great.

If that is true it's time to move the needle ($$$) I'm sure we can get some people to jump ship for the right price, along with other improvements/incentives. In the interim, it looks like triple preems is here to stay

Sounds like the company should quit playing games and get these schedules to be more efficient. More days off means more triple premium pickup opportunity for everyone come summer time. Win win.
