Can't wait to see what the rumors are in 2025 when all three companies still exist as they are now.
Except that this merger would not be that difficult. Three ALPA carriers using the previous merger methods. Envoy stands to lose in a merger as they started hiring after PSA and PDT therefore being a little lower in the relative scale.

Exactly. Piedmont existed long before most of its pilots were out of grade school. It will exist long from now as well. Piedmont serves a very special niche for AA, and is the spot they like to park selected employees in lucrative management positions.
Its going nowhere.

True but the landscape is so unpredictable. 5 years ago would you have thought TSA, XJET, and Compass would all close up shop? Exactly…

Not saying a merger is going to happen. But realistically somewhere down the line the 145s will have to go, and something will have to happen. Maybe not next year, maybe not in 5 or even 10 years, however eventually something will happen. PDT is such a small pilot group and it’s the easiest to “re-distribute” when the time comes.

If Piedmont had under 400 pilots with the dash 8 in 2013, why did they announce that they would get E145s? It’s an easier transition from E145 to another jet rather than Dash 8 to E145. Point being, if AA didn’t want 3 WO’s OR piedmont they would have gotten rid of them with the dash 8.

Also Compass Airlines.

These are not indicators of job security, unfortunately.

expressjet had serious problems way before that.

different times man. Back than AA and Airways just merged and they were planning on a bright future of expansion and dominance as the word’s “largest airline”.

Now, coming up on “post covid” and AA restructuring the fleet with axing the 190s,75/76,A330s, PSA’s 200s. Anything is really possible these days and you definitely can’t compare 2013 as an indicator to what the next 5 years will look like.

The can will continue to be kicked down the road the rest of this year and 2022 but PDT’s pilot contract is up in 2023, the pieces on the chess board are moving now for something to coincide with that.

Compass isn’t owned by AA. Big difference. They can make PDT whatever they want. It offers them flexibility. They like having control in the death star down in Dallas. Not saying they wont just **** can pdt at some point. But these particular situations are different. I wouldn’t worry about pdt closing its doors or merging. Everyone in the regionals is along for the ride unfortunately.

And the pieces will be Boss Hoggs kid will move on to the major of his choice, and the next group of managers AA wants to take care of slide into their new chairs. The 145 is not cycle constrained. 2023 is simply a new year. Envoy or PSA could easily shrink to accommodate Piedmont getting new jets. Flying could very easily be taken from Republic to accommodate Piedmont. Why does the scenario always have to be the demise of Piedmont where it could very easily be some other carrier.
