Travel Benefits
Hi, I'm looking to take advantage of my newfound travel benefits prior to starting sims for a trip to Europe. Any idea if our flight privileges can be used on any airline or are they restricted to OneWorld or AA only? For anyone who has tried something similar before how does checked baggage work when you're flying space-a on a multi leg flight? Do you have to get your bags from baggage claim and go back through security on every leg or can you check them all of the way through to the destination despite not having confirmed seats to match? If anyone else has travel questions feel free to thread jack so that we can get some info built up for all to use.

Thanks for the pointer, I'll have to check it out.
Update: So the FAQ that I found seems like it is oriented towards paying customers and doesn't really answer any of my questions. Here's the FAQ that I found, not sure if this was what you were talking about:
https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-service/faqs/faqs.jsp
Do you have a link to the employee specific stuff that you can share?

If you have access to the employee website, look on the right hand side of the home page and you'll see the travel links for employee purposes.

Ah, that makes sense on why the FAQ wasn't very helpful. Being that I'm still waiting to go to the new hire class and don't have a login to the employee site yet, any chance that you can help me out with a few of my questions?

Sure
As an employee, you can travel for free space available on all AA branded flights domestic and international. International flights require that you pay the appropriate international taxes specific to the country you are departing from.
You can ride on numerous other airlines for small fees on what is known as a ZED ticket (Zonal Employee Discount - the fee you pay is based on the distance of the flight you want. Longer flights cost more. Distances are broken up into a selection of Zones to simplify the pricing scheme). You fly at the bottom of the priority list when using these types of passes; choose your flights/airlines wisely.
Bags can be checked all the way through to your destination provided you are not interlining. Few, if any, airlines will interline checked bags for nonrevs. If you plan to check bags AND travel via multiple airlines, you will nearly always have to collect your bags at the claim and recheck them. Smart thing to do: Don't check any bags.
hope this helps.
