5 to 6 years. I'll be very honest with you. Anyone looking to get hired today who isn't planning on making a serious effort to get hired outside the flow, is not paying attention to what's going on in the industry and specifically American Airlines. If it were me, that's what I'd be doing. Getting in with Piedmont, getting 121 PIC through our quick upgrade and then finding other ways to make myself competitive. (If you needs ideas, pm me) The flow would be a nice piece of mind, knowing if nothing stuck then at least I'd be there relatively soon. American plans to hire 1200 pilots each year for the next probably 6 years. You do the math.
I hope this answered your question and was as funny as that the other guy had hoped.

God I wish it was easy to get out! Degree, check airman, tons of PIC and zero failures or violations and people still can’t get a call! Seems to be a huge military fixed wing push right now. One guy here was here I believe 3-4 years, never flew a single day with piedmont because deployed. Got picked up by AA. More power to him. AA’s “paying dues” isn’t limited to a ton of 121. They really seem to gravitate towards military over 121 recently.

I appreciate the honesty from you. I want to highlight the disconnect from the truth for those interested in PDT. The recent email from the company says 4 years 7 months to 5 years 7 months until you flow. Yet the truth is flow is closer to 5+ years.

Honesty?? There’s a reason that when we laid out the math, they stopped answering. Now that the dust has settled they are back answering questions thinking we have forgotten.
