I’d rather do 4 legs on days 1-3 and then something short on day 4 rather than the exact opposite (which is what we do now).

So many trips start with one short flight on day 1, 2 flights on day 2 and 3 and day 4 has 3-4 flights.

How many flying hours per month have you all been flying the past few months? Have most pilots been flying more than the minimum?

If you are looking for the least amount of flying, the most time away from home and the least # of days off, by all means come to PDT. Those are just a few of the many benefits offered.

I like PDT more then most poster’s on here but the statements above are very true. I try to get 85 hours per month and the only way to do it is to have 11 days off per month.

Most 11 day off lines are around 78-83 hours TOPS (excluding outliers). It’s so bad that I bid afternoons and pray for thunderstorms and delays to get my 85 hours per month. I see bad weather coming and I know I can pay my bills and I’m smiling. Gorgeous weather and under block flights do nothing for me!!

I’m a middle of the pack FO, year 3, I’ve had 11 days off probably 5 times. Reserve? Never heard of it during non-pandemic times. Pre-covid I was getting 80-85 hours a month. Now? Since I came back in November 2020, I’ve averaged 78.4 hours a month with 12.5 days off per month. August? I have 14 off with a 70 hour line.

PDT has quite a few negatives. You’ll find what those are here on the boards. But if you want to sit reserve for the next 2 years, go elsewhere. If you want to hold a line quicker, work your butt off for less money while dealing with some of the painful minutiae, upgrade prolly 1.5-2 years after OE completion, get your 121 time and get out, then Piedmont might be for you. We all came here for a reason and my needs have been met. Could it be better and should it? 100%

3 years and you still have not upgraded. Either that’s by choice (you want your days off) or you can’t since PDT has not upgraded anyone in a long time. Once you upgrade get ready for 11 days off. Getting used every reserve day (yes you’ll be reserve) and you will never credit above 75 hours. Oh, enjoy RAS too!!! Sit for 8 hours and only get paid for 4!!! and the company violating the contract on RAS by trying to make you sit after they have assigned you something and you returned to domicile. Enjoy.

It’s the second one for me. Thanks 2020. I am not naive about upgrading soon and it’s something I struggle with daily. Take the upgrade and the PIC time needed to jump plus the pain that comes with it or enjoy the days off and upgrade when I can hold a line and then jump. Either way, apps are in and I’m going to maximize the opportunities for myself because at the end of the day, I know I’m the only one looking out for my health and well being.

What would you do? Moneys not an issue. Just trying to minimize the time I spend here. As everyone should at a regional.

Definitely consider the above. I have been steering people away from PDT because there are other airlines that would be better in the “long term” (more than 3 years).
I am in the same boat and have never sat reserve, nor been extended or junior manned. If your plan is to get into 121, put your head down, close your ears to complainers and enjoy the good crews, and then get out of the regionals before upgrade, Piedmont might be a good fit. As CADR has said, most of the BS (reserve, calls from CP, etc) starts at upgrade (except for seniority and no transparency with scheduling).

Remember that APC is just one tool for your research. Speaking of tools, do not even consider anything the one who calls himself torquewrench and Reandid. Throw out the best and worst reviews on here. The answer lies somewhere in the middle.
