Default Suggestions on places to live near CLT

Hello, I am looking for a good place to live in charlotte. I would ideally like to find a 2 bedroom apartment with restaurants, shopping, bars near by in a safe location. I really like the south end area but it seems to be a bit out of my price range. I’m looking to spend around 1700 at the most. I looked at a place near apple north lake mall called The District which I really liked if anyone has any information/insight on that area. Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated!!

I was planning to move to the CLT area, but when I researched the housing market, and I mean the whole area not just in the middle of the city, it blew me away to see just how insanely expensive CLT is. It isn’t cheap. I wish it were because CLT is a nice base I think compared to many other airline bases. The high cost of housing kept me from moving there. I honestly think 1700 tops for your rent is gonna be hard to come by unless it’s in a rundown/bad neighborhood. That’s just the reality of it here.

I have some friends that have a two bedroom condo they rent out. They are in the Ashley Park area. It's a nice place, but nothing super special, and they get $3000/month for it.

$1700/month isn’t going to get you a safe, hip urban location. Sorry.

Had friends who rented in tega cay and mt. Holly near the river. $1700 might work there.

Hey, didn’t see the need for a new thread but need some suggestions for a modest middle class neighborhood, single family homes within a reasonable drive of CLT. Don’t need stuff for kids nearby, but convenience to shopping, gym and parks would be a plus. Ideally within the 300k range, outside the city tax zones, no HOA preferred. Even an idea of what side of town to check out would be helpful. Thank you!

you’re going to be looking around an hour north towards Salisbury/Davidson County or an hour south into South Carolina for that price range and anything decent. Not bad areas and can still make a 2 hour reserve call out with ease.

I'm in the Steele Creek area of Southwest CLT. My 33 year old 2648 sq ft home is valued around $430K. Homes in the 1500 sq ft range have been running in the mid-300K range. I walk around the area quite a bit and the number of homes for sale have plummeted since interest rates went up. I'm about a 20-25 min drive to the employee lot at KCLT so it's a good area for someone who works at the airport. To get a home below $300K you're going to looking at a townhome, or else you'll have to go way out to Clover or similar areas.

Go to zillow.com and search around the area, it'll give you an idea of prices.

Check on the South Carolina side for more reasonable prices. Still within 20-25 mins to the airport and MUCH cheaper taxes!
