They do that so you won't be able to pick up extra trips on your days off, at premium pay,.... while they're also paying reserves to sit at home.

They build them like this bc they're trying to get max productivity out of us to make up for the lack of rsv pilots. Started losing days off and increased credit in 2008/09 when we furloughed and have been poorly manned ever since. Glad we're getting 15-20 per class again though. Not like it'll change anything!

I was using his own words to avoid confusion. His example is exactly how it works no matter what it's called.

It still sounds backward to me.. there seems to be enough people in reserve to pick up most of that since they're getting bottom of the stack pay while scheduling seems to prefer to pay for more senior guys to fly those extra 15 hours?!?

Sorry not an airline guy so half of that went over my head.

You also get passes on SW(luv)?

Paying PRM here and there is a pittance compared to the cost of adding additional pilots to the payroll and building 75 hour lines. Each extra pilot on the list costs thousands of dollars in fixed employment costs, especially with healthcare costs rising as they are. We may be paying more for our insurance, but the company's share is still significant.
