Need some advice on an increasing amount of insomnia I am having.
It only seems to happen when I am working and mostly in hotels stateside. I tend to be unable to fall asleep for hours and can only finally fall asleep at the wee hours in the morning. I never seem to have these issues at home just at hotels that are in the US. I am pretty sure it is 100% mental but I do have issues getting comfortable sleeping on softer US style mattresses since I am a stomach sleeper. I have been thinking about trying learn how to sleep on my back but I am just curious if anyone has gotten any kind of help with this kind of thing.
It is an issue of being able to relax, wind down and getting comfortable enough to try and fall asleep. The worse it gets the more angry I get throughout the night. I've given up coffee, booze and soft drinks. I eat smaller dinners that have no spice or heavy fats, nothing seems to be working for me. I've even set a consitent alarm and bedtime but things are not getting better.

You've mentioned US hotels and "stateside," suggesting that you spend most of your time outside the US.
Are you new to staying in the US, or new to staying in hotels?
There are various things you can do to improve your sleep, but that is also tied to your schedule, and will have a lot to do with your circadian; where is home and what kind of schedule do you have?

in the meantime what has worked for me is:
- 10 minute wind down yoga on yourube
- crossword puzzle book
- praying rosary
- listening to a dull podcast (sleep with me) or any Joe Rogan podcasts because they are long and usually will find someone I’m not that interested in
those seem to work. Avoid phone before bed and get in bed early. Yes you can function on a couple hours sleep if you have to. Once you get going and the sun is up your body will kick into gear. And you’ll sleep like a baby the next night.
