FAA revoked Medical after first DUI

Hi - I just want to clarify this point - if I just go for it and see what they ask and decide not to comply, my medical would then be denied, correct? There's no option to "back out". The concern is if I have a denial, no LSA, 3rd class medical reform, etc etc

I'm confused by this. You said the FAA already reversed their denial decision and let you keep your last medical right? If that is the case, and nothing adverse has happened since then, why would they deny a new application? Just take the letter they sent you saying you could keep your last medical to the AME who does your exam. Once he sees the FAA has already cleared you on that issue, he should be good. What am I missing?

Hi - it's a little more complicated than that. It was revoked, not denied, meaning the DUI was not yet reported on a medical, just via the 60 day requirement. Because of this, it's essentially not previously reported per the medical process, and the AME has no choice but to defer the application. Anyway, I still get your point, they already reversed their decision so it would be odd for them to deny it at this point, but I'm still rolling the dice. I think I'm going to go for it. I'll update everyone on the outcome.
You have nothing to lose if your last medical was revoked.
You CANNOT do LSA after having an FAA medical denied or revoked.
If you never had an FAA medical, or had one and let it expire, then you can do LSA with just a driver's license.
In your case you'll need to get a new medical. Once you do that, you can fly LSA forever without ever getting another medical, if desired.

I'm really, really not trying to beat a dead horse here but I just want to make sure my story is understood. The Medical was revoked, and then before it "expired" and after I submitted additional unsolicited testing to FAA, they sent a letter reversing their decision. My medical was allowed to ride out to expiration as active with no restrictions. I contacted AOPA medical to confirm this, and they said that because the most recent medical was active (regardless of any period of time as revoked in the intermediary), I do not consider my most recent medical as revoked or denied per the LSA regs. This is fairly moot to my point as I need a medical, but I think the case is fairly solid that I can fly LSAs right now.
