Default Class Dates

I'm interested in making a jump from corporate into the airlines and have noticed that some companies have classes filled all the way into the spring/summer of 2019 already.

What's the wait time from CJO to stating class with PSA?

The best way would be to just get in touch with a recruiter to get the latest, most accurate answer you're looking for. BUT, I do personally know someone who just started class, and they had to wait for about 2 months after the interview because they needed CTP. If you don't need CTP, you shouldn't have to wait that long!

If you choose to come to PSA and would like a referral, let me know!

Awesome, thanks for the update. I chatted with a recruiter earlier and got a ton of great information. I've been flying in the corporate market for about 12 years now and have my ATP, some types, and a good amount of turbine PIC. I think I'll be able to get in pretty quickly according to what he said. Now it's decision time....i'm sitting on a pretty lucrative offer to fly a Challenger 300 PIC Part 135, and also have a pretty comfortable job right now. I'm not sure that my current path will ever get me to a major though.

There are 135 pilots who make it to legacies and majors. But the odds aren’t necessarily in your favor. 121 time is a good way to network and build experience that the big 3 seem to prefer. That being said, with your experience have you entertained the thought of an LCC?

Upside to an LCC is you’ll make more money than you ever will at a regional and if you never move on you at least have a job providing you with the lifestyle you desire for a good paycheck.

That all being said, if you look at the breakdowns of who’s been hired at legacies the vast majority are regional CAs and ex-military. So a regional is still a better shot than anywhere else right now, it’s just a question of whether the juice is worth the squeeze depending on your age and goals.

Oh, I'm sure the recruiter was very excited to give a you a ton of info, whether or not it was good information is debatable. The majority of guys we are hiring are cfi's with the minimum multi time, and rotor transition pilots. Our training is good, but this isn't Flight Safety, or Simuflite, where the info is spoon fed to you and the type is practically handed to you. Your success will largely hinge on your study habits and sim partner, who more than likely has never flown a jet, unless he's coming from another regional.

I'm a former corporate guy too, and you will be in for an eye opening experience in terms of pay, benefits, and how you are treated. You are just a number. No more company credit card, leisurely lunches/diners, fuel points, hotel points, and rental cars. Your perdiem will afford you subway, chic filet, and whatever fast food is walking distance from the hotel.

You have part 135 time which will be used toward's your 1000 121 time to upgrade, at which point you will be forced to the left seat to be a junior reserve Capt (hope you are familiar with crash pads if you don't live in base)on short call with for probably the next 2.5 years. QOL doesn't really begin here until you are a line holder, which means you have more control over your schedule and credit.

Not sure why PSA is your choice, but there are other good regional's with better pay and work rules. Like Chris said the LCC's are an option as well both as a career or a step up towards the Legacies if that is your goal. I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy, just trying to give you info from the other perspective. I too had a great corporate gig and miss the pay and bennies, but I do enjoy 121 as well. I'm just trying to get to the next level like everyone else. In your present position, I would rather be applying to the LCCs or legacies from a good job, than from regional level pay and never get there. What I'm saying, is don't go backwards to try and get ahead.

You must be staying at the wrong hotels for your overnights, or just not asking nice enough just this week I got a free breakfast for my crew ($40 value), base points, an elite bonus, and an extra 2,000 points for some sort of promotion at a Mariott property. I'm up to 62 nights at Mariott in 2018 alone, zero of which I have paid for...not to mention gold status at IHG thanks to our Cincy/Charlotte Holiday Inns for sims.

I wish I had your luck! I was diamond with Hitlon, and platinum with IHG when I was corporate. Now I'm lucky to maintain silver and gold at either, even with the stay credit in CVG for sims. I did get a free breakfast for the crew once about 3 years ago when I was still platinum at Hitlon garden inn.

I came in with Hilton status, but have had really bad luck trying to get anything from them. The only time I got a benefit was after our van took an hour to arrive. The only IHG I've had luck with outside of training have been the Crowne in Dayton and the Holiday Inn AP in Charlotte (not the one half an hour away they have us in for sims). My next trip has a Doubletree, Hyatt, and Fairfield, so we'll see how that turns out. It's my first time in the Hyatt and the BHM doubletree has never given anything, so the only real option is the Fairfield.

For IHG... FAY, OKC, any of the DC properties (Crowne, Hotel Indigo, Holiday inn Old Town, Express out by Andrews), MSN. Seems for me anything Hilton is usually a no, but if they do it never registers in the system.
