Anyone know why phl lost those lines? I’m hoping it doesn’t get more and more senior just as I’m starting 🙄

Probably because the people in PHL don’t want to fly in PHL. Too many people getting TDY’d to sit SCR/HRV in PHL (and other places) because apparently we are “short” coverage there. aka “big picture”.

On the FO side, I know of multiple reserves that didn't fly at all in March in PHL or <5-10 hours for the entire month.

I don’t think it’s going to be a permanent reduction. As long as the new planes keep coming we will hopefully get more flying.

PHL started larger than ORF. ORF has grown substantially, PHL hasn't.
Dunno if that was the plan, but the two new bases definitely are taking different paths. ORF is bigger than Tyson and almost twice the size of PHL

Barring massive growth (ie major change in current fleet plan) I don't see anything that suggests PHL has to get larger

thats been the plan all along. they told us that when they opened phl, that it would be small, and that orf would be bigger.

Why ORF is a base in the first place is beyond me. It’s a Double DH to do 1 leg the most pointless base ever!

Navy RTP candidates and Air Wisconsin’s old Mx personnel and facilities.

Because its an awesome base where many of folks and I live..... lol. There's a ton of folks who were Air Wisconsin (Pilots, FAs, and Mx folks) that were displaced that PSA tapped into. There's a good size prior military labor force that is available to tap into. Its dead smack in the middle of all of AA east coast hubs where flights times do not exceed 1 hour too much......

People say the same thing about DAY, TYS, and CVG. The commuters will never be happy because they want CLT and as long as these bases exists there will never be enough lines to keep every who wants CLT happy.
