What is the likelihood of getting ORF or CLT as a base right out of training? Either of these bases may allow me to drive both long/short call reserve and stay with family/friends at base when on short call. PHL/DCA etc... would mean a crash pad or some other solution during short call.
Also, what is the typical schedule now for a new hire short call reserve? 2 hour call out, what times per day? maybe one block of 4-5 days in a row per month?
Just trying to figure out what to expect. Our flying club has a long waiting list of students so I think 1500 hours is going to come quick.

Based on the recent vacancy bids, you can see ORF like couple months after training. CLT, expect to take a little longer.

You generally are scheduled to "work" 19 or 20 days per month on reserve (11 days off), mostly in 4-5 day blocks. We are contractually guaranteed at least two day-off blocks of at least 3 days (a single 6-day-off block meets the criteria). Aside from those mandatory day-off blocks, most day-off blocks will be 2 days.
We are allowed to trade reserve days around, to an extent, and trades are allowed to infringe on the 3-day-off block requirements.

Everywhere but Knoxville is 2 hour call out. Reserve start times tend to be 4am, 5am, 11am, 1pm (all subject to change of up to 4hrs during a block of reserve) with a few other times tossed in to keep us guessing and to minimize the number of pilots in any given reserve "bucket."

And what mix of SC to LC reserve are you seeing per month?
PSA has longer time to hold a line than other regionals, but other than that it looks like the best choice for me (2 bases in driving distance will be nice)

Figure 13 hrs. I’ve never been assigned 4am... but 5am short call is 5am to 6pm. 11am short call goes till midnight

I can't remember the exact percentage, but it's 10% or 15% of the reserve lines that must be LCR (ie 27 SCR; 3 LCR).

The 4am may be a TYS idiosyncrasy since we don't have HRV and have the 1-hour call out. It allows our earliest flights to be delayed no more than ~30 minutes if someone calls out.

It's contractual and, even though I'm almost positive it is set as a "minimum", the company sticks pretty close to it. LCR lines serve little benefit to the company (and not a great deal of benefit to the pilots under our "bucket" system, as written).
