Right…I didn’t claim it was industry leading or life altering just pointed out we did get a raise in case you didn’t realize it.

Pretty sure it was contractual. They need to raise our per diem badly

Yes it was contractual 1%. They need to fix a lot more than per diem if they want to retain anybody that’s for sure.

DAY Base

Recently got DAY and I’m wondering about the flying as well as opportunity to pick up out of DAY. Thinking of moving to base and just pushing through. How long to hold a line? Thank you in advance.

The flying is probably the lowest credit in the system. Opentime will end up with only a few other trips that literally nobody wanted. Go to PHL or DCA and do yourself a favor. Purposely coming to DAY is not a good idea. Some pilots that live in the area commute just to get a decent schedule. The whole “how long til I can hold a line” is a daily changing target. Plan on 12-14 months and celebrate if it’s any quicker. The way we’re losing flight time and losing lines it will probably take forever.

How vital is it now to have a degree to be a competitive hire for the legacies? I’m sitting at about 24 credits remaining towards a bachelors. If I try to finish it up, is that something I’ll be able to do realistically while on reserve?

Pretty vital. Yeah, just take online classes and do it on your off time.

May not be required but still probably carries a lot of weight. I started mine online before hiring in here and finished about 9 months afterward. I still think it’s a good idea if you have the means to do it.

I have GI Bill remaining. I just don’t know how crazy the schedule is going to be on reserve
