Yeah too bad that was 2 weeks ago.

Ramprat 05-21-2012 02:02 PM

A class just started today. A slim to none chance of a class next month as training will be backed up on upgrades and issuing types to current FO's. If there is it will be very small (4 or so). Definate class(es) in July.

Cab27 05-21-2012 02:23 PM

Thanks. Hopefully more classes on july. Do you know how big is the pilot pool waiting for class date?

Eh? Actually there is this current class of 8 and then another one planned before any additional upgrades....... Upgrades will be slowed if anything not the new hires....

Cab27 05-21-2012 06:40 PM

I had an interview a couple days back and they told us that if we get it, we will be placed in a pilot pool and then we will be selected depending on our "score during the interview". Im wondering how big is that pilot pool and how long will I have to wait for a class date.

just remember that a USAIR/AA merger is most likely going to happen sometime in the next 18 months. I would highly encourage you apply and think hard about going to a skywest unit.

Welp I'm just repeating what I was told from JB in HR and SS from flight standards.

Flying Enoch 05-22-2012 05:23 AM

A buddy of mine interviewed last week and was given the tentative offer.....what class could he expect to get with the way things are currently?

buckeye88 05-22-2012 05:47 AM

Last I heard there is going to be 2 or 3 new hire classes before they do more upgrades. One started yesterday so I'm going to assume there will be another class mid june and probably one early july.

Which is fine but stuff changes weekly around here..... The schedule doesnt really stay set.... I know the type stuff will be an on going process.... We cant not run new hires b/c of that.... Also the focus now is on the lack of first officers as we did 18 upgrades and maybe one new hire class during that time.... Takes almost 3 months for a new hire as opposed to a month for an upgrade....

Calmmmmm down, classes are small and they will call when they call. Even if someone else gets a call it doesnt mean you are unfortunately. They run on a point system and it even says in the job offer you may never be offered a class. So you need to make the decision that works best at the moment, if they havent called then you should go to TSA if your class is soon. Unless you want to roll the dice on PSA calling. Good luck

skyxbomb 05-25-2012 03:48 AM

Attrition has slowed past two months. We're short on FOs especially for the summer. Not sure how well PSA wants to staff more FOs when by the time the summer new hires gets out on the line, we will be properly staffed. Probably the same across the regional board right now. Hope you guys get called soon! Take your ATP written if you haven't. Should bring you up few more points.

Thanks for the tips! I just turned down a class waiting for psa. Lets see how it goes.

jedinein 05-28-2012 08:38 PM

Never turn down a class date if you're swimming in a pool! You never know when the music will stop, the party's over, and someone pulls the plug. You want to have a seat somewhere, even a third or fourth choice place, if that happens. Regionals know how the game is played.

+1.... Risky business, especially right now. Seems most decent places are hiring at a trickle. Good Luck Cab, hopefully they call sometime.

Any news or class dates for PSA??

untitled 06-01-2012 07:34 PM

I interviewed recently and they said they were working on a June 25th class. How long have you been in the pool? Anyone know how long people are sitting in the pool on average?

Ive been in the pool since the second week of May. Still waiting for a class date...

jws3443 06-02-2012 06:58 AM

Class of 8 towards the end of June then smaller classes of roughly 4 after that is the new word on the street. All subject to change of course...

Are they planning to fill up that class with candidates that were interviewed on May or April?

It is all about your ranking man you could be number 5 one month then 15 after they interview people who rank higher the next month. That is how their system works... You need to get that. Are you currently flying?

Flight Instructing...I guess I could be on the bottom list!!

gethired 06-04-2012 04:48 PM

Go to the job fairs! Airlines look very hard at the candidates at these, and some regionals are beginning to do on-site interviews.

Chicago is at the end of this month...

OnMyWay 06-05-2012 09:33 AM

When they hired me back in 07, it took them 3 months to get me into a class. Being in the pool for 3 weeks is nothing, just saying.

I heard that some pilots were going to mainline in July. Any idea how many?

Didn't even know mainline was hiring until this fall. Hope what you heard is true! Been a little slow on attrition lately.

wait till USAIR mergers with AA. If I were at PSA right now I would be hoping to high heaven Eagle does not get another 50 70+ seat jets. A ton of talk Eagle might even get an ASA for their fleet. Could be a very interesting merger for PSA/PDT/Eagle.
