L-AE the next PSA

Nothing's ratified yet. From what I understand, we don't even have contract language. This vote was, I understand, to begin drafting contract language. No specifics yet, just that a vote was taken 5-4 in favor.
Let's not jump to conclusions. This isn't over yet.

Um, hello ?
Were you expecting something from ALPA ?
Is ANY regional carrier's pilots expecting ANYTHING from ALPA ?
What did Lee Moak's recent direct communications to Eagle pilots tell you ?
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but if you haven't figured it out by now, ALPA (and DALPA pilot Moak) has no interest in doing anything but assisting in the decimation of the regional pilot flying industry and milking you like New Jersey Holstein's out of every dues $ they can get in the process.

Dear New York --
Today your MEC voted 5-4 to send management’s concessionary agreement to the pilots for review. From this point forward it is an Agreement in Principal. Those of us who voted against the proposal reasoned that the deal had too much downside and that the positive “gets” for the pilot group were not in anyway guaranteed while the concessions came into play regardless of management’s ability to produce those “gets” for us.
Today is not just a shameful day for American Eagle pilots, it’s also a shameful day for all who toil on the labor side of the regional airline industry. In the midst of a rapidly deepening pilot shortage this body voted for concessions so deep and so thorough that other workgroups are certain to feel downward pressure on their contracts for the next decade. In the end, those who agreed to further the concessionary process did not buckle under the threat from management or their fear-mongering consultants, but instead buckled under the threat of near-zero unity in our profession; wherein other pilot groups overtly indicate they will perform our flying for less, and wherein the national pilot unions have utterly failed to invest any substantive effort into preventing this oft-repeated travesty.
We wanted to put the bullet points out today and have 48 hours to review your feedback on the ‘final’ negotiated bullet points before voting. Management did not allow that. Most everyone on the MEC agreed the deal is horrific, but that the deal had strayed far enough from management’s December 19th Term Sheet that it warranted going out for pilot review and the only way to do that was to approve the Agreement In Principal.
Incomplete overview of management’s promise:
1) 60 EMB 175s,
2) 90 of the next EMB options,
3) PBS goes away (for free) until delivery of the 61st option,
4) Flow metering jumps from 20 to 30 (in Sept),
5) Small signing bonus.
6) Modification of sick/vacation.
Incomplete review of our downside:
1) Longevity capped at 12/4,
2) 10 year duration with no amendment round,
3) Stagnated pay rates,
4) Vacation accrual adjustments,
5) Modification of sick/vacation.
This is not a done deal. Here are the next steps:
In short order, the MEC will publish the bullet points voted upon today. Meanwhile the Negotiating Committee will meet with management and draft actual language to insert or delete from our contract. During this process both ALPA and the Company will conduct crew room visits to present the information and answer questions. You will get a chance to learn all the facts.
Once language writing is complete, the MEC will reconvene to review the language and will decided at that time if the deal warrants going out to the pilots for a vote. If the MEC votes down the language, the deal is dead. If the MEC approves the deal, then it goes out for a pilot vote. Pilots will have the final approval, or denial, of this agreement.
This will probably all occur on an expedited basis.
We will certainly be sending more emails in the next few days and we will also be having a teleconference and possibly an in-person meeting.
Once you have digested the re-negotiated bullet points I urge you to reach out to Ray & I with your thoughts. Perhaps those re-negotiated bullet points will speak to you differently and you might wish to have Ray & I represent you in a different way. Or not.
More to come later…
