You're probably right. I was going off the most recent data our numbers guy published. But we've hired quite a few since then, so I'm sure it's even higher now.

In the same vein, a lot of people are selling reserve times based on current awards and how long the most junior lineholder has been at the company. They're ignoring the trend that reserve times continue to increase. A person hired today isn't the same as a person hired a year ago. I would be concerned about getting hired here today and watching reserve times continue to trend upwards as I get more senior. This happened to me as an FO in CLT. Round 1 stays just out of reach while each month it trends higher. Now that I've had round 1 for a few months, I'm about to be forced into upgrade and back onto reserve. The people selling this place as the bee's knees of qol must be round 1 CA's already. I'll spend greater than half my time at PSA on reserve.

I'm generally really happy that I came to PSA and am having a lot of fun. But the staffing/scheduling mess here baffles me. If I were in the market today, I'd (personally) probably go to SkyWest.

I was on reserve as an FO for over a year and 1.5 years as a CA. Had to bail out to DCA to have some sanity. This places runs on reserves practically.

Does PSA stand for positive space airlines?

I bet you the flow is less the 8 years due to attrition of pilots leaving with large hiring coming up and the fact some people can’t flow due to their record or other factors.

So to clear things up, in 2021, is the flow a true flow? When your number comes up, no questions asked at all, you just go. Everybody flows. Right?

As long as you don’t have a letter in you file, once your number called, off you go.

Except, can you take a pass and not go? Or not now, but later?

It’s not a now or never choice, but there’s no guarantees when the next opportunity comes
