Very true. Bidding DCA is very tempting for me personally. I love the DCA flying and the overnights are much better than CLT flying. Only problem is half the daily flights between my hometown and DCA compared to the 8 /day I enjoy between CLT. I would almost always be up super early to catch the first flight of the day into DCA, and likely always catching one of the 2 last flights back home. So I would take a QOL hit there. But the flying and the overnights are better. Decisions decisions. I think DCA may go "seniorish" for FOs and Jr for CAs when it all shakes out.

In looking at the base bid with DCA that was posted last night, it looks like we are short about 100 captains by March.

The base bid is not just active captains, it includes management and instructor pilots (it tells you that on the page). Good try though.

I know. If you take the "PER" leaves out, we are short a large number of captains even if you count the MGT and SIP.

So I'm scheduled for the 12/19 class in DAY and super excited to be going to training soon... however during the interview we were told that we would be given positive space home for any break longer than two days (i.e. 24,25,26th of dec that we have off). Today when I called to ask about flights to training as well as home for the holidays, I was told we are on our own getting home and back to training for Christmas, and flight benefits don't kick in for 2 weeks from date of hire, so non-rev is a no-go.
Finding out this late makes finding a flight that is remotely affordable tough. Anyone have any ideas or should I count on xmas at the Clarion? |

We had to spend thanksgiving here in Dayton. Company did not positive space us. However, during the interview, THEY DID say you were on your own on getting home. The indoc instructors here are strict on you going home even on your days off. I would also say call back and see what kind of answer you get. Good luck! |
