Any regionals or upstarts hiring direct entry captains? Thanks in advance.

Default Not the reply I expected.

What the heck...ask an honest question...get a 10 year's old version of an attempt at a response. Give me a call when you've sat 6 years as a F/O flying Learjets all over the world because the Loser captains are too comfy making 60k a year being on call 24/7/365. Then tell me you're not ready to sit in the left seat flying 45 minute legs. Absolutely no offense to any regional crews here...just this douche bag with a lack of class to keep this forum professional.

No............................................. Sitting in the right seat of a LEAR for 6 years in no way makes you qualified to be a captain for a 121 airline, and my last leg from Toronto to IAH was just slightly over 45 mins

Sorry to say it but you're in NO WAY qualified for a major. If you want out I see your next job being the right seat at a regional. If you know someone you MIGHT get lucky and get on with CAL or DAL as an FO but with your time, ABSOLUTLY NO MAJOR will hire you as a CA. Not VA or SkyBus! In order to get hired as a CA for VA or SkyBus you need to have extensive experience as a 121 CA and preferable be a 121 check airmen. If you want to see for yourself then visit their website.

45 minute legs? Wouldn't that be nice. Maybe they meant the North American Region when they came up with the term "regional".

I'd think the only way you could walk in as a captain, even at a start-up, would be if you had turbine captain experience, and more likely 121 at that. Sitting as a lear FO for 6 years isn't going to do it. In fact, it's probably going to work against you - hiring in as a captain, that is.

You can't expect to skip a rung on the ladder just because you chose to sit where you're at for as long as you did.
